When you wake up, what’s the first thing you do in the morning?
I’m a creature of habit, and my morning routine pretty much always starts out the same. When I first wake up, I immediately put on my slippers and robe. I hate being cold in the morning—even in the summer! Plus, I like the tradition of putting on these comfy items instead of jumping straight into my outfit for the day. Next, I fill my water glass up and make sure to drink the whole thing before I go on my morning walk with Oliver. Then I go about my morning skincare routine, put in my contacts and last but not least, I make the bed.
While I love my daily routine, the last item, making my bed is one of the most crucial parts of my morning. It’s sort of silly, but I find that making me bed helps start my day on the right foot. If nothing else gets done that day, at least my bedroom looks nice. Even when the rest of the house is a mess, something about having a clean bedroom is really important to me. It also helps keep our bedroom a peaceful and relaxing space which makes finding sleep all the easier!
Lately, I’ve been noticing that my morning tidying goes beyond our bedroom. I’ll pick up shoes laying around the house. Rob has a bad habit of leaving every single pair of his shoes out, and unfortunately it’s rubbed off on me. I’ll put dirty laundry in the hamper, hang up anything that’s clean and fluff the pillows on the couch. It’s nothing crazy, but it definitely makes me feel like everything is more put together and less hectic!
