The past 5 days have been some the busiest in a while. I had a dinner or an event every single night and now I’m really tired. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised! Rob’s parents were in town over the weekend, so we ate at great Chicago restaurants all weekend and I finished up my seriously social streak by attending the first ever Second City Club Dinner. OMG y’all. This was incredibly fun and I felt so lucky to be included as an inaugural member. It’s an exclusive, members-only club that meets to socialize and learn about wines, taste wines and eat great food. The reason for the secrecy is that the sommelier and chef like their jobs and need to remain quiet on their side-project. The location changes every time and isn’t announced ahead of time, which makes it seem sneaky and a little naughty, ha!
I had a blast meeting new bloggers and other wonderful people and enjoyed chatting with the sommelier who suggested I stop buying screw top wine… hmmm, okay, I should branch out a bit, but it’s just too cheap and let’s face it, my wine education is just beginning. So if you live in Chicago and this sounds like something you’d like to do, you can apply to join by clicking here.
And just when my body thought it was finally going to get a break, I said, no! One more party! We hosted a Tuesday night Friendsgiving with some girl friends who meet almost every Tuesday for dinner and wine. Arleigh, my roommate decorated our apartment last weekend and set a gorgeous tablescape up which made our party look way more impressive and fancy. I cooked my fourth turkey ever and I have to say, it was might tasty! Everyone else brought a dish and we stuffed ourselves over wine, chit chat and good company. I’m so thankful to have these ladies to spend my Tuesday’s with. They’re a wonderful group and make my weeks that much better!
Now that it’s Wednesday, my body is hating me and I plan on spending the evening curled up on the couch watching TV. I was really hoping to catch up on Breaking Bad, but now our internet is down and I can’t pull up Netflix, boo, and then crash early! What a perfect night, right?
