A few weeks ago, Jenn hosted the most beautiful brunch with Monica Vinader at Nomi. Waking up in time to make to an 8:30 brunch on Friday was a bit of a challenge, but totally worth it. Despite it being a bit windy and chilly, I was determined to wear this ruffled dress that had arrived from Anthropologie just a few weeks before. It was a bit of a random decision, since typically I go for more casual dresses that I can wear everyday, but the color and cut of this one made it hard to pass up. Plus, we have some summer weddings on our calendar and I was desperate for something new.
Several years ago, our spring and summer was full of weddings, but in the past two years, it’s slowed down a bit. The majority of our friends seem to be past the wedding phase of life and onto the baby phase of life. But, I’m excited that not everyone is there yet, because I love weddings! Crazy enough, three of the weddings we have this year are for 3 of my good friends—I’m so excited for them and can’t wait!
Summer Wedding Guest Dresses
I used to dread having to buy more dresses to wear to weddings because of the sheer number of them, but as they slow down, it makes it more fun to get something new! Plus, I think I’ve worn every wedding appropriate dress in my closet to at least 5 weddings by now!
Every wedding will call for something different, but in my opinion, it’s always better to err on the side of over-dressed than under-dressed. I’m not recommending you dress in black tie if it doesn’t call for it, but if you’re unsure, a) ask the bride or groom, b) just go a little nicer! It can’t hurt! That’s a big part of why I love this dress. The length makes it seem a bit dressier, but if the wedding isn’t super fancy, dress it down with some more casual sandals and accessories, or vice versa for a fancier affair!
