A Weekend With Katherine
The weekend before I went to Mexico, my middle sister (I’m the oldest) Katherine came in town to visit. She lives in Atlanta so I don’t get to see her very often, so I was super excited when she told she was coming to visit, but also confused why she picked February, ha! For her job in Atlanta, she works with the Chicago team and she hadn’t actually met them in person, so it worked out perfectly that she could go into the office and meet them and then spend the weekend with me!
We spent Friday working from Soho and then crossed the street for dinner at one of my favorite restaurants on Randolph Street, De Cero. I have a soft spot for Mexican food and this place is one of the closest to the Tex-Mex from home. We went home after that and just sat around and drank wine and caught up.
On Saturday we grabbed brunch and mimosas at Beatrix and then headed to North and Clybourn to do some shopping! We popped into World Market, Banana Republic, the Container Store and Anthropologie. I got this yellow dress and my sister got this adorable mockneck tank at Anthropologie. I knew we were going to walking around a bunch, so I wore this casual and comfortable outfit. It was actually warm and sunny that afternoon, but had been a bit chillier in the morning (hence the change of outerwear). A striped tee was perfect for a busy day and these jeans are still ranking in as my new favorites — also, they’re only $88!
We came back home to chill out for a bit, walk Oliver and then spent the rest of the afternoon getting my place organized. I’m so thankful that my sister and mom are so good at organizing and actually like doing it! We got rid of so much junk and it felt so good! After the hard work was over, we treated ourselves to an Italian tapas-style dinner at the bar at Quartino, which was just perfect for two people.
Before Katherine left on Sunday we cooked brunch at home (and made mimosas!), worked on her wedding website, which looks totally adorable, and just soaked our last few hours together before she went home.
Overall, it was a perfect weekend — the right amount of busy, productive, fun and relaxing!
