I had SO much fun putting this together! Dare I say that it’s giving me a little bit of baby fever?! Haha, kidding, sorta… Anyway, even though Owen is one, I’ve had those early weeks at home with him on my mind lately. Maybe it’s because this time last year, he was only 2 weeks old and I was in the thick of new motherhood! I remember living in my robe, slippers and cardigan sweaters because they were so easy for breastfeeding. and
I also remember how taking a hot shower alone for 20 minutes felt like the most magical thing in the world! It’s the little things, isn’t it?
If you’ve got a new mom or soon-to-be mama in your life that needs a little something extra this year, I rounded up a great selection of gifts she would absolutely love! I would know, because I recently lived through it all! I gave a little explanation below on some of these gifts to help you make the right choice for the new mama in your life.
Gift Ideas for New Mamas and Soon-to-Be-Moms
There are so many bassinets out there, but this is the one we used and I highly recommend it! There are four different models—some have more features like music and light vibrations. Ours had these features, but we didn’t end up using them because I was nervous to get Owen used to falling asleep to movement.
One of the coolest features is that it swivels, so you can easily move it around so that your baby is closer to you which makes those middle of the night feeds much easier! I wrote a whole review on the HALO Bassinest in this post.
We swaddled Owen until he was older, but now we use this HALO Sleep Sack. We had no issue transitioning him to it and he’s been sleeping so well! They come in different fabrics—there’s cotton for summer and micro-fleece for winter and so many cute patterns. A newborn might not use this, but it’s still a great gift for when they transition out of the swaddle, which happens faster than I expected!
Need I say more?! What new mom (or any mom for that matter) wouldn’t like something that makes her look instantly awake?! Sleep deprivation is real, y’all, and this set would be such an awesome self-care gift or stocking stuffer.
Okay, guys, especially those about to be dads or new dads, bookmark this one! I didn’t want a push present per say, but I did want a little something to commemorate the day, and Rob gave me (with my guidance) this initial necklace from Maya Brenner in gold (also in rose gold) with an ‘O’ on it. When we have another child, I’ll have their initial added to it. It’s a simple, dainty necklace, but I absolutely love it and it is SO special to me! Even if you have kids that are a little older, this is still such a thoughtful sweet gift and you can get it with two or three initials! If the Maya Brenner one isn’t in your budget, I also love this one that’s got bigger letters!
Of course, you don’t want to offend the new mom, but I think this is such a fun add-on gift that’s says, “girl, it’s okay if you don’t bathe for a week, I still love you”. Paired with something thoughtful, it’s a perfect balance! This is easily my favorite dry shampoo, so whether you’re a new mom or not, this stuff is awesome!
Like I mentioned earlier, I lived in my robe and slippers, so having a beautiful cozy one is important! You already feel so unlike yourself when you’ve got a new born, so it’s nice to be able to wrap up in something cozy and pretty!
I hope this helped you figure out something special for that new mama in your life, or if you are a new mom or soon-to-be-mom, pass on some hints! I can’t tell you how much I’ve loved my initial necklace, it’s so so so special to me!
