When the weekends are warm in Chicago, I spend a lot of time outside — walking Oliver, meeting friends for a patio brunch and exploring new parts of the city. I want to be able to get dressed in the morning and not have to worry about coming home to change before each new event, but I also don’t want me feet killing me half way through the day. So, lately, I’ve been pairing whatever outfit I have on with sneakers. I have to admit that I really love this trend, mostly because it works so well with an active lifestyle.

When it comes to the shoes, I’m partial to Nike Air Max sneakers, and I blame Rob, he’s a bit of a sneaker connoisseur. But they look cool, come in a gazillion color combinations and are super comfortable.

The key to pairing sneakers with a skirt or dress or anything other than workout clothes is to get some that are cool and less functional. Think lifestyle sneakers, not running shoes. Does that make any sense? What’s your take on the sporty sneaker trend? Love it or hate it?
