I live in the Chicago burbs, am in my 50’s now and can’t remember ANY gift better than the gift of my daughter 29 years ago.
To me the Mercedes is just a brag gift. And if you feel more inclined to talk about a material gift rather than gushing about your new gift from God… Well that is a truly sad thing.
A picture of new baby together with my family to frame and display in the nursery would be a wonderful keepsake of what truly matters to me.
Now if Daddy were to rub my feet and shoulders while I nurse… That’s another gift from heaven and I’ll know I’m the luckiest girl on the planet..
Sigh. 🙂

If a husband recognizes on his own the hardship of carrying a child for 9 months and buys a token of gratitude, that’s one thing. But picking out your own reward for birthing a child makes me facepalm.

It was very sweet! (and yes, he asked for suggestions and I picked it out)

If I want a fancy bag or a new DY bracelet, I will just take myself shopping and buy it myself! I feel like the idea comes from a place where the wife doesn’t have access to or control the money in the relationship.

PS-

The Fox print is from the Animal Print Shop https://www.theanimalprintshop.com/

I just ordered 9 different “little darlings” to hang in my nursery. I’m due with my first, a boy, July 4th!
