Hello everyone! I’m back today with March’s income and I have to admit, I was really happy with how the month turned out. This month I made more from my blog than I ever have. Let’s just hope I can keep that going from here on out!

So, without further ado, the March blog income report …

fashion blog income report — via @TheFoxandShe

This graph shows my blog income from the past 4 months. I accidentally deleted the old file, so I don’t have the past 9 months anymore, but you can look back at previous income reports to get an idea of where I was last May.

AFFILIATE LINKS — 45%

Affiliate links made up the biggest chunk of my blog income this month. As always, this is what I got paid out this month, not what I earned this month. My commission from this past month was more than last, so I’ll get paid out for that in a few months. was nearly double this month from last month, so I’ll be looking forward to that paying out in a few months. Bluehost paid out well this month and I’m not sure why more people were landing on that page as I wasn’t promoting it.

• Bluehost

• VigLink

AD NETWORKS – 1%

Ads continue to be one of those things that continue to bring in a little bit of income, but nothing major. Lijit is working best for me and I don’t have to do anything special, just drop in codes! This month it just brought in a tiny chunk, but hey, every little bit counts, right?

• Lijit

SPONSORED CONTENT & COLLABORATIONS — 44%

I got paid for several collaborations this month that happened during the holiday season and early this year. As my traffic and social numbers grow, I’m able to charge more and not take on quite as many projects each month which makes my life a bit easier!

• Collectively
• RewardStyle
• Direct Collaborations through Brands

PRE-FAB SALES — 10%

This month, my shop sales were pretty good! I had sold equal numbers of the Ultimate Editorial Calendar and pre-made themes. I keep saying I’m going to add more products, but it’s taking me longer than I anticipated.

TRAFFIC

Traffic went up a bit this month which I always love to see. I had a Instagram that got a lot of attention and drove a lot of traffic to my site earlier this month

Pageviews: 23% increase
Uniques Visitors: 16% increase
Referral Traffic: Pinterest & Bloglovin

SOCIAL MEDIA

Instagram: 11.7% increase
Pinterest: 7.3%
Twitter: 1.6%
Facebook: 1.5%
Email Subscribers: 7.4%

LAST MONTH’S GOALS

• Work on Creating Passive Income: This project is still in the works, but making progress. I’m not sure on a launch date, but be on the lookout in the next month or two for that announcement!
• Increase Blog Traffic: My traffic did go up this month and I’m attributing it to Tailwind. I gained over 700 Pinterest followers this month because of this tool and I know that it helped my traffic. I talked about this tool here and it’s a game-changer!

GOALS FOR NEXT MONTH

• Complete Passive Income Project: There’s a lot of components to this, but it’s really starting to come together. I’m hoping that by the end of the month the majority of the work is done and all that’s left is to market it!
• Create a Better Blog Business Plan: I won’t lie, I’ve always been a fly by the seat of my pants blogger. I plan a few weeks in advance, but now that it’s truly growing into it’s own business, I want to sit down and really think about what I want to accomplish this year and how I can go about that. I’m heading to the RewardStyle conference tomorrow and I have a feeling I’ll come back with a better idea of this or at least where to start!
• Stay Ahead: This is especially important for me this month because I have a lot of travel coming up and staying ahead will make my life easier and trips more enjoyable. I also want to stay ahead so that I can focus on finishing up that passive income project!

What goals do you have for your blog this month? Anything you’re working on or trying to accomplish?! Share it in the comments!

Even though February was a bit shorter of a month, I was excited that my blog income was just a little bit under what I made in January. Especially since the my automatic download sales were down. My affiliate commission was up and the majority of blog income came from sponsored content. Read on to see what else happened last month!

So, without further ado, the February blog income report …

My commission was nearly double this month from last month, so I’ll be looking forward to that paying out in a few months. Crossing my fingers I can keep this trend going! Bluehost was lower than normal. Guess people were waiting for the new year to start their sites.

Ads continue to be one of those things that continue to bring in a little bit of income, but nothing major. Lijit is working best for me and I don’t have to do anything special, just drop in codes! I also use Mode, but have seen little to no money come in from that which is a bummer. Maybe I shouldn’t have switched… I also did some direct advertising this month which brought in an extra chunk, but it’s nothing that I’ll rely on in the future.

SPONSORED CONTENT & COLLABORATIONS — 55%

I got paid for several collaborations this month and also secured more for the following month. A lot of these collaborations were on the blog, but several were just social media sponsorships too — another good reason to keep focusing on growing those followings! As my traffic and social following grows, I’m able to charge more for sponsored posts which makes it so that I don’t have to take on as many.

PRE-FAB SALES — 13%

In January I launched a new product to the shop, the Ultimate Editorial Calendar, and it sold like crazy. For good reason though, it’s been the most helpful tool in planning my content and maybe another reason traffic and income grew this month. It didn’t sell quite as well as last month, but I expected that. While the calendar starts in January, the inside pages are fill in the blank, so you can start whenever and not worry about buying it late.

TRAFFIC

Traffic was good this month too! It was definitely down from January, but I was still really happy with it because January’s traffic boost was huge. A lot of my traffic comes from Pinterest, so I finally invested in a tool to help me grow that platform, more on that in next week’s post!

Pageviews: -20% increase
Uniques Visitors: -18% increase
Referral Traffic: Pinterest & Facebook

SOCIAL MEDIA

Whoops! I forgot to record these at the end of January, so I don’t know how much they’ve grown this month. They did grow though, so that’s good!

LAST MONTH’S GOALS

• Get Ahead! I think this actually happened! Like I mentioned, I’m about a week and a half ahead on scheduled blog posts and also have my editorial calendar planned for the next month. Overall, I’m feeling so much more organized (big thanks to the Ultimate Editorial Calendar) and like I actually have a real game plan for growing my blog this year.

• Increase Blog Income: My commission grew a lot this month too and to be honest, I’m not sure why. I do hope this trend continues. The pre-fab shop also did well which makes sense for January, but hopefully it will continue throughout this next month.

LAST MONTH’S GOALS

• Plan Instagram Strategically: I definitely did this and saw a boost in sales from LikeToKnow.It. This continues to be one of the best ways to monetize for me, so I’ll continue to push hard on this one!
• Launch New Pre-Fabs: Totally forgot about this. Whoops, it’s just not a priority for me right now.
• Do More Outfit Posts: Last week I featured a few extra outfit posts. I’m still trying to find the right balance, but I feel like I’m getting closer each week!
• New Feature Page Launched: Wow, totally forgot about this! I’m putting this one on the backburner right now because it’s not crucial to my growth and I don’t know that it will convert very well.

GOALS FOR NEXT MONTH

• Work on Creating Passive Income: This is a huge one and one I’ve thought about a lot. I’m finally diving in and taking action! I’mworking on a really exciting project that should provide me with passive income for months to come. Well, that’s the goal at least. I’m hoping that by the end of April, it’ll be ready to launch — stay tuned!
• Increase Blog Traffic: Traffic brings more eyes and more eyes typically translates to more commission. My traffic has been slowing climbing up over the years, but this month I’m really hoping to get new eyes on my site and grow my readership by bringing in the right readers.

What goals do you have for your blog this month? Anything you’re working on or trying to accomplish?!

Can you believe that we’re already one month into the new year? This month was busy and flew by, but felt so much different than the past few months. As I mentioned, I had a really rough few months last year with too many work projects and not enough sleep. I decided to take off January from designing and sort of semi-test the whole full-time blogging thing. I’m not sure I’m totally ready to give up designing, but if every month went as well as this past one did, it would definitely be a possibility.

I was surprised with this month’s income because it was a lot higher than both November and December. I figured people would be shopping less and that traffic might be down, but it was the opposite. I did get paid out for several projects that I completed in November and December, but that happens every month.

Part of me wonders if all the time and energy I channeled from designing into blogging made the difference this month, I guess February will be the true tell.

So, without further ado, the January income report …

While the calendar starts in January, the inside pages are fill in the blank, so you can start whenever and not worry about buying it late.

TRAFFIC

Traffic was good this month. As always, I got a lot of referral traffic from Pinterest, but also Facebook. A blogger with a large following repinned a photo of mine and that helped drive traffic early in the month. It tapered off a bit after that, but was still a lot higher than December. I’ve been working on posting and sharing more on social media and I think that’s contributing to the growth here.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Instagram is my biggest and fastest growing social platform and drives a lot of sales via LikeToKnow.It. Pinterest is still by far my biggest driver of traffic, so I’m always happy to see that growing! Pinterest used to grow faster though and I definitely don’t spend as much time on there as I used to, but I’m hoping to do more of it this month.

GOALS FOR NEXT MONTH

• Plan Instagram Strategically: LikeToKnow. It provides a good chunk of my affiliate commission. This month I want to plan each week more strategically so take advantage of this platform. That means shooting more on the weekends and knowing what to post each day before the day arrives.
• Launch New Pre-Fabs: I currently have two new themes in development and they’re nearly done, but I just need to finalize things and get them online
• Do More Outfit Posts: I continue to find that my highest days of traffic are the days I post outfit posts and it makes sense. Those are my favorite posts to read on other bloggers’ sites! I’m hoping that by March, I’ll be doing 3 outfit posts a month. This month will be spent getting ahead and getting a few extra shoots in each week!
• New Feature Page Launched: Sounds secretive, but that’s just because I don’t want to spoil the surprise. I’ve been working on a new section of the site that I think will be really cool and I’m hoping to wrap it up by the end of the month and launch in early March.

WOW! I just realized I completely forgot about these posts in the craziness of last year. Sorry about that! I’m hoping to be more regular about these this year, so today I’m sharing my November-December growth and my income report from December. Traffic dropped off a bit in December, but November’s was really high. I also was sort of lazy after Christmas because I was spending time enjoying my family and relaxing. My lack of posts and social media probably attributed to the drop off. Plus, I think most people are hiding out between Christmas and New Year’s and not doing much work or looking online as much.

So, without further ado, the December income report …

AFFILIATE LINKS — 38%

Affilate links made up a good chunk of my income this month. This is what I got paid out this month, not what I earned this month. I’m guessing that in about 3 months, this will be higher due to holiday shopping affiliate payments coming through.

• Bluehost

AD NETWORKS – 2%

Ads continue to be one of those things that continue to bring in a little bit of income, but nothing major. Lijit is working best for me and I don’t have to do anything special, just drop in codes! SPONSORED CONTENT & COLLABORATIONS — 52%

I got paid for several collaborations this month and also completed a bunch of last minute collaborations around the holidays. For me, this type of content still brings in the most money. This also includes social media sponsorships!

PRODUCT SALES — 0%

My minted sales only pay out quarterly and I got paid in November, so nothing new here this month.

• Minted

PRE-FAB SALES — 8%

This was a low month for pre-fabs, but I bet this month is higher with the New Year starting.

TRAFFIC

My traffic in November was really high. I launched my holiday gift guide and a bunch of gift guides that month. There were also Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales which helped to drive a lot of traffic to the site. My traffic was still higher in December than it was in October, but November’s inflated numbers made for a decrease in pageviews and uniques from the previous month. Overall, traffic is growing steadily and that’s good!

Pageviews: -16% decrease
Uniques Visitors: -15% decrease
Referral Traffic: Pinterest & Facebook

SOCIAL MEDIA

Instagram is my biggest and fastest growing social platform and drives a lot of sales via LikeToKnow.It. Pinterest is still by far my biggest driver of traffic, so I’m always happy to see that growing! Also, these stats will be inflated because the last time I wrote down my social media numbers was in September (eek!). I’ll try to be better about this in the new year!

Instagram: 42% increase
Pinterest: 10.5% increase
Twitter: 3.5% increase
Facebook: 10% increase
Bloglovin: 10.5% increase
Newsletter Subscribers: 10.5% increase

GOALS FOR NEXT MONTH

• Get Ahead! I’m taking some time off from designing and with my extra time, I’m getting ahead on scheduling blog posts. The biggest benefit is that I can look forward to what’s coming next month and plan my content early enough!
• Increase Blog Income: Part of my designing break is to see what else I can do to grow my blog’s income. I know it won’t happen in a month, but I’m looking for ways to increase this in my spare time!

For the purpose of these reports, I’ll only be discussing the earnings made from my lifestyle blog, The Fox & She which now includes pre-fab sales that come from this site.

The holidays are upon us and I’ve been working on lots of holiday content to prepare my site for the upcoming shopping craze. This past month I saw substantial growth in traffic which I think is in big part to combining Blog Better to The Fox & She. I also saw substantial growth in commissions which was exciting. Not quite sure why, but my new series has been driving a lot of sales. Have you ever thought about a blog series?

So, without further ado, the September income report …

AFFILIATE LINKS — 48%

This month’s affiliate earnings are higher than normal and I think most of that is due to the seasonal change and the addition of List15, my new series that goes up on Wednesdays (usually!).

SPONSORED CONTENT & COLLABORATIONS — 40%

I did several collaborations this month, but didn’t get paid out for many, so hence the lower number this month. What I’m realizing is that each month is really really different from the last!

• Collectively
• CleverGirls
• Direct Collaborations

PRODUCT SALES — 19%

Last month I thought I was going to sell a few of the pieces in our house, but I didn’t actually get around to that. I did get paid out for my Minted art prints. In the coming months I’m hoping to paint more as well as add more prints to my Minted shop.

• Minted

PRE-FAB SALES — 23%

I haven’t been pushing these much lately, but they still provide a nice chunk each month!

TRAFFIC

Pinterest is still number one for my referral traffic and in general, traffic grew this month and there was a bump in traffic this past month too which was exciting. I think the end of summer might have something to do with it too. I’ve also been making it a point to link to other posts within my posts to keep traffic on my site and that’s definitely working.

Pageviews: 36% increase
Uniques Visitors: 32% increase
Referral Traffic: Pinterest & BlogLovin’

SOCIAL

As I mentioned before, Instagram and Pinterest are by far my favorite social platforms, likely because I’m a visual person. I still get the majority of my traffic from Pinterest and quite a bit from Twitter and Facebook.

Instagram: 12% increase
Pinterest: 6% increase
Twitter: .4% increase
Facebook: 1.5% increase
Bloglovin: 3.4% increase

GOALS FOR NEXT MONTH

• Get Ahead: As I mentioned, I didn’t do that this past month, but I’m hoping to get on top of this in the next few weeks before the holidays hit
• Finish Holiday Planning: I got a good jump on this stuff this year, but there’s still a lot to do!
• Grow Bloglovin’ Following: A lot of traffic comes from Bloglovin’ and that’s where I have my smallest following. I think if I could get those numbers up I could see substantial growth in traffic too!
• Balance: I’ve really been struggling with this lately. I’ve been working so much and I’m in desperate need of some balance in my life. I won’t be taking on any new projects until after the new year so I can get caught up and maybe even ahead on some things. I also have some personal projects I’m working on and want to give those a fighting chance too!
