Happy almost long weekend!! I’ll most likely be checking out of work early and hitting the pool — pending the weather — with friends. It’s been a crazy month and honestly I can’t believe May is nearly over! It feels like it just started!

After spending a weekend in sunny California, I’m ready for warm weather more than ever! It felt amazing to bare my shoulders and legs after hiding them all winter. Since I’ve been back, I’ve been frantically checking the weather app to see when warm weather is due in Chicago. Thankfully it looks like it’s coming this weekend!

I rounded up some gorgeous and affordable spring clothes — all under $100! It’s pretty clear that I’m obsessing over florals, stripes and lace this season. Anyone else?

Mother’s Day is coming up so soon! Since I don’t live in the same towns as our mom and won’t get to celebrate with her, I always love sending something special. Last year we got my mom a beautiful initial necklace that absolutely loved!

At the end of the day, if you can’t find anything that you really love, flowers and a heartfelt card never fail!

1. Tuberose Candle: When in doubt, a good candle is always my go to. I love this scent from Diptyque and the containers they come in are so chic!

2. Fur-Lined Slippers: I know my mom wears slippers every morning. I love this chic version from Birdies that combine the classic styling of nice loafers with the comfort of house shoes.

3. Initial Necklace: We got one of these for my mom last year and she absolutely loves it! This version came from Turkey, so order early and specify if you want more than one initial! I also love this version that comes with miniature letters (also comes in silver)!

4. Catch-all Tray: My mom is one of the most organized people I know! Catch-all trays like this one are something she would love. It’s the perfect spot put jewelry after you crawl into bed at night.

5. La Mer Skincare: I think we can all agree that La Mer is one of the most-prized skincare lines on the market. My mom is always on the hunt for good skincare and I know this would be a little gift she would love!

6. Striped Skinny Vase: This little skinny vase comes in a bunch of colors, but my mom’s favorite color is green. It’s the perfect height for a smaller table, vanity, bedside table or desk. Just add your mom’s favorite flowers!

7. Catchall Tote: For moms that travel or are on the go a lot, a classic and sturdy tote like this one are perfect. I love this dark olive-khaki color, but it comes in a bunch of different colors too!

While Cinco de Mayo has historic meaning, for me, it usually marks the true beginning of summer! In the past, that weekend has always been beautiful and sunny and to celebrate, one of our friends typically throws an all day party complete with tacos, margaritas, cold Mexican beer and even a piñata (how cute are these?).

For last year’s Cinco de Mayo party, I wore this outfit — a cute embroidered top from Madewell and ripped white jeans with a pair of Dolce Vita sandals. This year I really want a beautiful Mexican-inspired dress to wear, so I’m on the hunt!

Some of my favorites are from Mi Golondrina, if you haven’t heard of the brand, you need to check them out. All the dresses and tops are handmade in Mexico and are totally stunning! I need one in my closet asap — I jsut can’t decide whether I’d get more use out of a dress or top. What do you think?

We don’t have plans for Cinco de Mayo just yet, but knowing my friends, someone will volunteer to host a party (maybe us this year?) and I can only cross my fingers that the weather is as good as it was last year!
