The Parentals
Today is not only my dad’s birthday, but also the day my parents arrive in Chicago! It’s crazy that they haven’t been back for a visit since I moved in. I blame my mom hating the cold weather. Unfortunately, it is still a bit cold, but she’ll have to get over it.
My apartment has changed quite a bit since they first visited, so I’m looking forward to showing them that along with all the other sights in Chicago. When they moved me in, we were so busy getting me settled in that we didn’t do any of the tourist things. Since then, I’ve done them all many times, but I’ll be taking them by the ‘Bean’ and Hancock Tower!
We’ve also got reservations at two great restaurants – Sunda & Coco Pazzo. Oliver is looking forward to seeing his grandparents again as well. Last time he saw them he was only 8 lbs! And now he’s all grown up.
Other than that, I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend with my sweet parents and I’ll leave you with some adorable shots of Oliver (because I’m a proud mama and all). What’s on your weekend agenda?
One of Two
Today my sister Katherine, the middle sister of us three, is touching down in Chicago to spend the weekend and the second half of her spring break with me! I seriously couldn’t be more excited! To top it off, this weekend is St. Patrick’s Day, a huge holiday in Chicago! Katherine will get to see the river dyed a very unnaturally bright green, drink plenty of artificially green foods and experience the craziness of the holiday.
Tonight I’m planning on taking her to a tasty dinner and catch up with one of my best friends! I feel so lucky to have such wonderful relationships with my sisters, it’s one of the best gifts I’ve been blessed with. That being said, I’ll be mostly out of the office until Monday. Hope your week is going well!
Weekend Longings
Happy Friday! This week seemed super busy, but flew by at the same time. I started on two very exciting new projects and I think my excitement made the week fly by.
This weekend, I’m looking forward to having brunch with girlfriends at a new (at least to me) place and catching up! Saturday night, Rob and I are having a little staycation — it was my Valentine’s present! We’re going out for a fancy dinner and a stay downtown with a beautiful city view. I’m excited to kick back and relax for sure. I’m also hoping to pick up paint at some point this weekend. It’s time I get painting on that canvas rather than letting it sit there white for another few weeks.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! I hope it’s filled with flowers, chocolate and plenty of conversation hearts!
Rob and I are celebrating tomorrow night because Friday is sexier….okay, actually it’s just because Rob has a board meeting tonight. But Friday will give us an excuse to share a bottle of red wine without the worries of being hungover at work. Rather than going out, we always cook a fancy dinner at home and just enjoy each other’s company. It’s sort of become our little Valentine’s Day tradition and I love it! Which also reminds me, I need to finish my menu planning…
As for tonight, I’ll be headed to my friend Paige’s with my Valentine, Oliver alongside. Cake pops and champagne are on the menu!

Make a Wish
Today is Rob’s 26th birthday! I’m so lucky to have him in my life and can’t wait for this weekend to celebrate with him over a fancy pants dinner! We’re going out tomorrow night since he’s got a rec basketball game tonight at 9 (on a Friday, I know..).
As for the rest of the weekend, I’m grabbing dinner with some girlfriends tonight and mostly taking it easy. I’m finally over the sinus infection, but don’t want to relapse so won’t be doing anything too wild. What’s on your schedule this weekend?
