15 Casual Dresses for Fall — via @TheFoxandShe

I don’t know about where you live, but Labor Day weekend seemed to flip the switch on seasons in Chicago. The weather has been pretty amazing — cool and crisp, but the sun keeps you just warm enough. Last weekend we went to watch the TCU game and since I don’t own anything purple (oops), I just wore whatever I felt like, which happened to be this striped dress, my all-time favorite booties, a military jacket and this grey bag (outfit above).

I love these early fall days where it’s warm enough to wear a dress with just a light layer over it. To me, it’s the perfect transitional look!

It’s also nice that my summer pieces can do double-duty and be worn into the next season. Instead of pairing them with wedges or sandals, I sub in a pair of riding boots, over the knee boots or ankle booties. As the weather continues to get colder, just layer up with a sweater, jacket or scarf to keep warm!

The 15 Best Plaid Scarves Under $100 — via @TheFoxandShe

How was your weekend?! It took me nearly all of yesterday to go through all of my emails. When I leave town I pretty much turn technology (other than Instagram) off. It’s so nice to have a few days to disconnect and decompress. We were in Portland for our friends’ wedding which was a total blast. Their band was incredible and kept the party going nonstop for hours. Needless to say, my feet were killing me after several hours of stomping around and jumping in heels to the music.

The rest of our trip was great! Rob was in the wedding so we actually had a lot of time apart, but I got to spend time with friends from Denver. We did a fair amount of shopping, eating and drinking, but also managed to get in a little hiking at Forest Park on our last day. It’s so gorgeous up there! If you’re visiting Portland, make sure to go! My favorite of the shops was Made Here PDX — a shop filled with items made my local artisans. These carafes/pitchers are on my list now. As for food, my favorite spots we ate at were Prasad, a super healthy lunch spot, and Isabel in the Pearl District for brunch, though their lunch looked really good too. We also visited a few breweries, like Deschutes, TILT (awesome burgers too) and 10 Barrel, but didn’t make it to Willamette Valley — that’s definitely on the list for the next trip!

Now that Labor Day Weekend is in the rearview mirror, I feel like fall is actually here! It might still be warm, but the mood around town seems to have changed a bit. There’s not nearly as many tourists walking around, kids are back in school and I feel a lot more relaxed. What about you? I’m even making myself get back into a better workout routine which started with hot yoga last night at Core Power Yoga.

Summer is so crazy that these changes are gladly welcomed here! A few things I’ve recently added to my fall bucket list? Learn how to make an easy pie crust, go on hour long walks with Oliver (until it’s too cold), learn how to make a killer latte and figure out snapchat — I just joined and my username is ‘thefoxandshe’ so follow along! There’s guaranteed to be lots of cute snaps of Oliver!

Lastly, I’ve rounded up 15 amazing and beautiful plaid scarves that are under $100. Actually about half of them are under $50, so get excited and start your fall shopping — make sure to check out this guide to fall essentials as well!

P.S. Don’t you love that it’s already Wednesday? One of the best parts of long weekends in my opinion.

Oversized and cozy! Yes, please! Love the fun pops of color in this ASOS scarf.

Neutrals go with everything and I love that the opposite side has a different pattern, just added this one to my wardrobe!

I scooped this soft scarf up during the Nordstrom sale, but it’s still incredibly well-priced!

I love this poncho-style scarf from Anthro worn as outerwear!

You can never go wrong with a basic, simple plaid scarf.

15 Fall Essentials — via @TheFoxandShe

Last week we got a little taste of fall and as much as I love those cool, crisp days, I was not ready for it at all. It did get me thinking about my favorite pieces for the upcoming season — some that I own, some I plan on adding to my wardrobe. It also reminded me of how the long summer days are going to be gone before I know it. More patio parties, please!

What’s on your must-have list for fall?

Oh and this blanket scarf is available here!

A perfect layering piece! Also comes in grey and black. I got so much use out of mine last year.

You remember last year’s obsession with blanket scarves? They’re back, so make sure to get yours before they’re sold out again!

A fall essential! They go with everything and they’re easy to walk in. Perfect for city living.

Just as important as short boots and even more so as it gets closer to winter.

J.Crew is my go-to for affordable and adorable socks for guys and girls.

15 Ways to Wear Fringe & Tassels — via @TheFoxandShe
There was a time in my high school years when I dressed very very bohemian. To be real honest, some of my outfits may have even been bordering hobo. I thought I was cool, but looking back I wonder what the hell I was thinking. Thankfully those days are behind me, but a little of that love for bohemian style still lingers.

Now when I want to add some bohemian flair to an outfit, I go a classier route. Rather than decking myself out in weird baggy mis-matched pieces (it was bad guys), I mix in pieces with fringe and tassels. They can give an entire look a casual cool vibe that says, I didn’t try to look this cool, I just do.

How do you feel about the fringe trend and what’s your favorite way to incorporate it into your wardrobe?

Without a doubt, shoes are my biggest weakness when it comes to shopping. I LOVE them. Even when I was a little kid I was obsessed. I probably had one of the largest collections of Keds you’d ever seen.

With the Nordstrom sale in full swing, I’ve been eyeing several pairs. Mostly boots and booties though because that’s what I live in all during the fall and winter. I’m especially in love with this chunky heeled over-the-knee pair. I bought this pair of over-the-knee boots last year and they were an incredible investment — they keep your legs so warm! I also really love this pair of short booties for casual work days.

It’s already been several days since this amazing sale kicked off, so if you haven’t checked it out, make sure to do it now!
