Baby #2: Boy or Girl?

Last week, I hit 20 weeks—honestly, I can’t believe we’re over half way there. This pregnancy has gone by so much faster than Owen’s, which is funny because just the other day Rob said, “I feel like you’ve been pregnant forever!”.

I thin it’s gone by fast because I’m too busy chasing Owen around, but also the first 12 weeks were over the holidays and the craziness of traveling and Thanksgiving and Christmas made that time pass so fast.

We had our anatomy scan a couple of days ago and were so excited to see that everything looks perfect with our sweet little baby.

The ultrasound tech also confirmed the gender, which we learned at around 13 weeks.

Baby number two is…..another BOY!

Guys, I am so excited! But, also nervous for my future grocery bills, ha! I grew up with all sisters and secretly wanted another boy so Owen could have that same relationship. That’s not to say that brothers and sisters can’t be close, I know plenty that are, but I loved the dynamic of having sisters and wanted Owen to have that in a brother.

Of course, I would have been thrilled to have a girl too. My dreams of buying those adorable little dresses have been crushed. Maybe my sisters will have some girls and I can just spoil them as an aunt!

At 12 weeks, we did the test that checks for some common genetic disorders as well as gender disorders. Part of that test means you get to find out the gender if you want.

We’re impatient, so naturally, we said yes.

A few days later, I had an email titled “Gender Information Inside” and forwarded it to my sweet friend Isabel who used to own a bake shop. She made us the most adorable gender reveal cake I have ever seen! I really wish her shop was still open so you guys could get one too.

I brought it home after our girls’ dinner that night and couldn’t stand it. We cut into it at 10pm, despite the fact that I’d just shared 2 desserts a half hour before. Rob 100% thought it was a boy, and I was leaning girl.

When I pulled the knife out after the first cut and made the second, you could see a bit of blue on the icing and we both were like OMMMGGGGG! Because I’m an emotional person, I got a little teary-eyed thinking of all the fun our two boys are going to have together.

We have zero ideas for names, but we’re so excited for this summer—it’s going to be a fun one!

Again, I’m so incredibly grateful to be able to grow our family. It’s such an incredible blessing. I’m also so thankful for you guys for following our little family and our journey all these years! Can’t wait to share more of it with you!

BTW, surprise, we’re pregnant with baby 2, and Owen’s birth story.
