It’s official, fall (or maybe even winter) is really here. And in my opinion, weekday mornings in the fall don’t get any better than breakfast at one of my neighborhood favorites, Toast, a lot of Julius Meinl coffee and spending time with loved ones.

A couple of weeks back, that’s exactly what we did. Caroline was in town visiting over fall break and her last hours were spent cozied up in sweaters over breakfast. I love going to brunch on weekdays because there’s never a wait, it’s quiet and it feels like such a treat to go out when everyone else is already busy at work.

It was pretty chilly that morning, so I bundled up in my fall uniform — skinny jeans, a button-up shirt layered with a sweater and booties. Since moving to Chicago, this is seriously my favorite thing to wear when it ges cold. It’s simple, but always cute, plenty warm and comfortable.

Needless to say, I’d be okay if more morning started this way. It was a great end to her trip and perfect beginning of my work week!
