Road Trip

{ my new place is the one in the middle! via Google street view }

I feel like I’ve dragged out my moving over a few too many posts, but it’s a big deal and a big move for me and this helps ease any worries I’ve had. So bear with me, because this is the last one.

Today is the big day! Dad & I packed up our road cruiser (akasuper stylish Penske truck) two days ago and started treking up to Chicago. Unfortunately the Penske truck does not have as smooth a ride as my car. My butt was numb for two days straight. The upside is that I’ve gotten a real good look at the Midwest (mostly flat farmland)…and the inside of a few too many gas station bathrooms.

St. Louis was the biggest city we drove through and it was literally there and gone within minutes. Back to flat farmland for another 150 miles. Maybe it was more.

I’m also ready for real food again. Chili’s & hotel restaurants just aren’t cutting it. I feel like I’ve gained 5 lbs. in the past two days. The massive amounts of candy we’ve been consuming surely can’t help my cause. On day two, we did come across a little Vietnamese restaurant in Springfield, called Little Saigon, that had fabulous pho. I LOVE pho. If you’ve never had it, go get it. Now. Anyway, that tasty meal made our last day go by a little quicker.

After settling in Bolingbrook last night and hanging out at the local bar at Cheddar’s I’m sure you can imagine that I’m ready for something non-chain. Bring it on Chicago, I know you have oodles of amazing places for me to try.

Our movers arrived right on time and everything is in the new place. It’s not beautiful… yet. But check back for pictures in the next week or so.

It’s crazy to think I’m an official resident of Illinois. I won’t lie, it doesn’t have quite the same ring as ‘Texan’, but I’ll always be a Texan at heart.

Cheers to big changes and doing crazy things, ♥ blair
