Inbox Envy

If I could change one thing about my day-to-day job, it would be less emails to sort through on a daily basis.

Every week starts the same. I roll over in bed, swipe open my phone, and boom. Once the wifi connects, that little red bubble over my email icon shoots up from just a couple of emails to fifty or more. Ugh, just when I was thinking I had my inbox under control.

I remember the days when I wished I’d wake up to more than 5 emails because it meant potential new design projects, aka, money. But my business has grown and shifted since then, and lots of emails simply comes with the territory. That being said, I still get inbox envy on occasion!

I get jealous when I see someone else’s phone displaying any less than ten emails. Don’t get me wrong, for obvious reasons, emails can be really good! But, the amount of spam emails that I get is ridiculous; especially when they address me by Mr. Staky, which tells me they didn’t even take the time to visit my blog before hitting send. Sure, Blair can be a guy or girls’ name, but if you took one look at my site, I think it’s pretty clear that I’m a gal.

A few weeks ago, I decided to do something about my complaining, so I posted up in a coffee shop, wearing this new comfortable shirt dress—I love the muted tones for fall, and spent about an hour sifting through and cleaning my inbox. By the way, this dress is on sale for 50% off right now! Just use code FALL50 and checkout all the other full-price sale items! Anyway, back to emails… I unsubscribed from emails that I was already deleting every day, answered the ones that had been sitting in there for a while, and deleted whatever else was in between. It was tedious, but in the end, totally worth it.

I have friends that will laugh when they read this post (you know who you are), having only fifty emails in their inbox would be nothing short of a miracle. But for me, it’s not. I guess I’m more type-A than I once thought, ha!

But it’s Friday, you don’t want to hear about emails, let’s bring on the wine! I agree, but one new habit I’ve formed on Fridays, is going through as many emails as possible before I check out for the weekend. It’s nothing ground-breaking, but it definitely makes my Monday workload a little bit lighter and my weekends stress-free.

What does your inbox look like? And back to this dress, what colors are you loving for fall?!

P.S. One of my favorite brands, Cuyana, has a pop-up shop at Interior Define on Armitage this weekend! It starts tonight and there will be cocktails, music and the chance to win a Cuyana piece of your choice! The party starts at 7! The pop-up will be open throughout the weekend as well, so make sure to stop by!

A few of my favorites from them include this cape (so good for travel), this travel case, this silk top and this overnight bag.

BTW, my best advice for starting a business, and what’s your dream job?
