May 1, 2018 Motherhood My First Mother’s Day as a Mama Last Mother’s Day, I was bursting at the seams to tell you guys we were pregnant. I was about 14 weeks pregnant and we had just told our extended family and friends and we’re getting used to the idea that our pregnancy was public knowledge. I couldn’t help but think about how different the following Mother’s Day would be. We’d be a family of three. Would it be a girl or boy we’d be snuggling a year from then? At that point, we still didn’t know, though I had a strong suspicion it was a boy! And, here we are, a year later and this time I’m actually a mom. Mother’s Day has always been an special holiday in our family. My mom is amazing. She’s strong, tough, yet gentle and caring. She’s a great listener and always had the best advice for us. She encouraged us to follow our dreams and comforted us when things didn’t go as planned. She was, and still is an amazing woman. I’m lucky enough to be close with her and really consider her to be one of my best friends. I’ve always had so much respect for my sweet mama, but, it wasn’t until we had Owen that I fully appreciated all she did. Being a mom is hard work. It can be mentally and physically draining, you often feel like you’re messing up and it’s a often a thankless job. It’s also incredibly rewarding and so much fun to be raising a little human. You learn to love on a whole different level and somehow all the other stuff that used to bother you just doesn’t matter anymore. We’ve always celebrated the holiday in our home, but it’s funny to be on the other side this year! I’m not a big “gift” person, but flowers and plants? Always, always accepted! There’s something so much more special about getting a bouquet or beautiful plant that warms my heart and makes me feel special. I teamed up with 1-800-Flowers.com® to show off one of their newest arrangements from their 2018 Mother’s Day Collection. As much as I love a gorgeous flower arrangement, I’m obsessed with this succulent planter. I love greenery and the brightness it adds to the inside of our home! 1-800-Flowers.com® has been around for 40 years and continues to create some of the most beautiful and unique arrangements that are perfect for Mother’s Day. They have amazing customer service and you can rest assured that your flowers or plant will show up on-time and in impeccable condition. Whether you have a big budget or a small one, you’ll be able to find something beautiful for your mama! My personal pick is a plant or succulent! How pretty is this Grand Succulent Garden that Owen “picked out”? He knows his mama so well 😉 . Best of all, these succulents will last long past Mother’s Day. This one comes in a pretty hammered metal container that looks elegant and blends in with our decor. Plus, succulents are super easy to care for—you basically only water them every 2 weeks, which is perfect for anyone who does not have a green thumb like me, haha! They’ve been in our house for a week now and every time I look at them, I think of Owen and how much love and happiness he’s added to our lives this year. How’d we get so lucky? A few of my other favorites from 1-800-Flowers.com® are this bouquet of pink lilies (they smell amazing), this stunning orchid, this colorful spring arrangement, this bold bouquet, and these elegant tulips that always remind me of spring! You can also customize your order with vase options and extras like chocolates! If you’re looking for the perfect gift to tell your mom how much you love and appreciate her, flowers or a pretty plant will do the trick! My mom has always told us that she doesn’t need more “stuff”. Her favorite thing to get is something beautiful to remind her of us since none of us live close by. Lastly! If you didn’t already know, Mother’s Day is May 13th! So, mark your calendar and go ahead and order your flowers or plant today and select delivery for Mother’s Day or whenever you like! Your mama will thank you! Thanks to 1-800-Flowers.com®, a brand I love and trust, for sponsoring this post! Partnerships like this help make The Fox & She possible!
