5 Ways to Wear a Spring Sweater Dress
This post was originally published in March 2020, it’s been updated with fresh links!
We’ve definitely hit that point of the year where we’re getting a fewer signs of winter and more signs of spring! Though we are supposed to get snow this week, bah! Despite this week’s snow, in general, there’s less snow, less frigid days, more sunshine and longer days.
I couldn’t be happier about it!
We haven’t even had a bad winter, but spring is just the best—it feels so fresh and new. I get the same kind of feelings that I do when the new year hits. So much opportunity and positive things to look forward to.
This spring seriously feels like a new beginning too. We’re venturing out more, seeing friends more frequently and slowly easing back into a more normal routine and wow. It feels absolutely amazing! There’s nothing like a year in isolation to make you realize just how much you love your friends and family!
I haven’t been doing much shopping lately, but am looking forward to getting dressed for stuff again! I love sweater dresses, especially this funny time of year where it’s warm during the day, but can still get pretty chilly at night. They’re so chic, easy to dress up or down and so comfortable. I wore them a bunch when I was pregnant and love how they show off the bump.
Now that I’m not pregnant, I still love them, so comfortable and have just enough stretch, but also hug your body a bit too!
I styled them a few different ways so you can get an idea of how versatile they are and how you can wear them yourself!
How to Wear a Spring Sweater Dress
Ivory Sweater Dress Outfits
This is one of my favorite ways to wear a sweater dress. Dressy, classic and chic! This color combination is a timeless one in my opinion. This color is so versatile and is just the prettiest creamy, almost oatmeal color. And this color also just lends itself to looking dressier, which makes it a good one for date nights, the office and girls’ nights!
I also love that this color can easily be worn all year long. Whatever you pair it with will bring it more into one season or another.
I’m wearing a small here and could have worn a medium, but the small works perfectly—not too tight and not see through. If you’re pregnant and your bump is bigger (I’m only 20 weeks here), you might want to opt for one size up just for the ability to stretch more.
Sneakers are my jam!
They’re my most-worn pairs of shoes and for good reason. They’re comfortable and go with everything—I’m grateful that it’s cool to wear sneakers with everything these days.
Add a pair of them to your outfit to give is a cool casual vibe for everyday. For chilly days, just throw on a longer warm coat. Sneakers can give just about any outfit a fun, playful twist that’s cool and casual. For my busy everyday life, sneakers are always my first choice.
I love this outfit for date night and I’m so grateful we’re getting closer and closer to that being the norm again! This outfit looks sassy with the boots and I love that it hugs the bump! If you don’t have a bump (I don’t anymore!), it still looks amazing. I got so sick of wearing baggy sweaters and jeans, so this is a welcome change!
To dress it up a bit more and to keep you warmer on cool evenings, pair it with a leather jacket. It gives it a chic, edgy look!
Striped Sweater Dress Outfits
This dress is definitely more springy! Most of my winter wardrobe is neutrals, and when the weather turns, I start getting the itch for more color!
I love the pop of colors, and find that this one just looks more casual, but is so fun! This one is older, but was one of my favorites, especially while I was pregnant.
Lastly, I had to style this colorful sweater dress with sneakers because, like I said, they are my favorite. I basically live in them. For this look, I paired it with a grey coat with it for a polished, but cool, casual look.
What favorites are you pulling out for spring weather?! Do you love sweater dresses?
