The Best Winter Basics
Cashmere Turtleneck Sweater in Heathered Grey, wearing a medium (order down for a more tailored fit, I wanted it to be oversized) | Sleeping Bag ReDown Puffer in Ochre, wearing an XS (puffers run big, order down!) | Authentic Stretch Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans in Mid Blue, I ordered ‘Tall’ in my normal size | Boss Boots in Pebbled Black, run slightly small, I went up a half size | Day Market Tote in Black, comes in more colors
Thanksgiving is officially over and we’re moving into Christmas mode today and tomorrow at our house! We were in Denver last week and got a ton of snow our first day which really put me in the holiday spirit. Today, we’re heading back home and I plan on digging out the Christmas decor and tomorrow we’ll go get our Christmas tree!
As you may have noticed, this past season, I’ve really been working to narrow down my wardrobe. As much as I love getting dressed up, I started feeling like I just had too much stuff. And, in reality, all I was really wearing were my favorites neutral basic pieces, so for the most part, that’s all I invest in these days!
It’s great though. My wardrobe is more streamlined, and even though I have less clothes than I once did, I actually feel like I have so much more because I can come up with so many different outfits from the same pieces. As I’ve gotten older, the more I truly believe in the statement, “less is more.”
One of my favorite places to shop for basics is Everlane, no secret there! Probably half my closet is made up of Everlane, and for good reason. The prices are great and the quality is top notch. Everything I have from them has lasted and is classic, so I can easily wear it year after year.
Probably the most essential part of any winter wardrobe! I live in sweaters, and since I wear them so often, it is nice to have a variety. Everlane always has the best staple sweaters. Some of my favorites are this Re:New Fleece sweatshirt, the alpaca crew and this cashmere v-neck.
I’m wearing this turtleneck cashmere sweater here and it’s a new favorite. I’ve found that my grey sweaters are my most worn, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to have another! I ordered up (medium) in this one because I wanted a looser, more oversized fit.
Coats are one of my favorite items from Everlane! I’ve worn my wool coat (made from recycled wool & nylon) literally 4x a week this year and just got this Re:Down Sleeping Bag Puffer which was ideal for the cold, snowy weather we had in Denver. It’s made from 100% recycled polyester and the fill is 100% recycled down and feathers. Plus, 18 recycled water bottles were used in this jacket! How’s that for reusing?! I continue to be impressed with Everlane’s commitment to the environment, as well as their dedication to create timeless, classic pieces.
If you’re on the hunt for a warm puffer jacket, I highly suggest this one! I adore the color, it’s so chic and it’s exceptionally warm! I wore it when we went out to play in the snow in 22 degree weather and was plenty warm with my sweater underneath! I love the super long puffers for really chilly days, so I’m happy to have it in my closet.
My most worn footwear in winter are easily boots and sneakers. I love these booties because of the chic pointed toe, and the heel isn’t too high, so they’re easy to walk in. They’re also comfortable (though, I recommend ordering up a half size because they run a bit small).
Lastly, I have to mention this tote bag because it’s so beautiful! I have several tote bags and love that this one is sturdy (instead of floppy) and stands up on it’s own when I set it down. The quality is so good and I know it’ll only get it better with age.
I opted for black because nearly all my bags are brown, but it does come in several other colors! This would be such a great gift for anyone who needs a good travel or work bag because it holds so much and is sturdy and well-made!
Thanks to Everlane, a brand I love and trust, for sponsoring this post! Thank you for supporting the brands that make The Fox & She possible!
