What to Buy for Mom & Dad

Awwww, mom and dad! We love them, but why are they so hard to shop for?! As I get older, I’m starting to understand why. When they decide they want or need something, they typically just go out and by it right then and there, while my sisters and I will wait for a birthday or the holidays. I also find that they really already have everything they need. Are your parents the same way?

Either way, that’s not a good excuse to just say, sorry, we didn’t get you anything! I’ve rounded up some amazing gifts that are perfect for mom and dad. When I think about shopping for them, I try to think about what kinds of things they actually use and appreciate! Since they always say they have everything they need, I really take pride in finding something special that will surprise them!

These pretty coasters would be perfect!

My dad is nearly impossible to shop for—you? Most people can at least rely on being able to get their dad a shirt or tie, but even that’s tough for me. Why? My dad actually owns a men’s clothing store, ha! He’s pretty much set on all types of clothes, shoes and accessories, so I we love finding him food-related gifts as he loves to cook and loves good wine. He’s also quite the handyman and my mom jokes that he has COPD, short for “chronic obsessive project disorder” (she made this up!), as he’s almost always working on some project around the house. Technology and gadgets are usually a big hit too! What does your dad like?

When in doubt, a nice bottle of wine (if they’re into that sorta thing), a good book or gift card to a nice dinner are always great gifts! If you can’t find anything that’s perfect, an experience gift is always fun! It’s something they can do together and you know it won’t sit on a shelf for years. Just make sure it’s something they like, not a voucher for sky-diving, unless they’re thrill-seekers!

When shopping for your parents, what do you usually look for? What gifts have they loved in the past?
