The Most Comfortable Nursing Bra
If you know me, I like to be prepared. Something about having all my ducks in a line makes me feel really calm. With a baby on the way (any day now!), this is super important. Being a first time mom, I’ve had a fair amount of anxiety about the actual birthing process. However, almost all of the stress I’ve felt towards the end of my pregnancy was mostly due to the fear that I wasn’t prepared at home. Did we have everything we needed? Diapers, wipes, onsies?! I think I focused a lot of on these physical things because it’s one of the only things I can actually control right now!
I know it seems silly, but spending time making sure that we have everything has distracted. It actually makes me feel a lot more calm. We don’t need to discuss how much cleaning I’ve done in the past week—eek! It’s becoming a bit obsessive at this point, ha! I suppose they say that nesting is a totally normal part of pregnancy, but Rob’s starting to think I’m OCD. Either way, last week I made yet another list of all the little last minute things I needed to be fully prepped before our baby arrives. I washed the last of his towels and clothes. Rob assembled the bassinet and installed lightbulbs that had burned out—because good lighting is essential to having a newborn. I finally called my insurance and ordered a breast pump (so glamorous!), cleaned the house from top to bottom and ordered some nursing bras!
ThirdLove reached out at the perfect time, so I’m partnering with them to try out a few of their nursing bras and I couldn’t be more excited. Paired with all the advice on nursing bras that you guys shared on Insta Stories (thank you!!), I feel like I’ll be totally set!
After getting a bunch of feedback from you guys, I ordered two bras. One a size up from my pre-baby size and one a size and a half up! I love that they have 1/2 cup sizes on ThirdLove and I’m honestly not sure why this isn’t a thing everywhere. Four standard cup sizes for all the ladies out there? It doesn’t make sense.
So many of you said how much you loved having a few nice nursing bras in your arsenal to make you feel more like yourself. I’m sure after days of wearing pajamas and sweats, getting dressed in normal clothes can feel like a huge accomplishment. Having the right base layer is essential! ThirdLove’s nursing bras fall into that category!
I opted for ThirdLove’s 24/7 Classic Wireless Nursing Bra, though they have a wired one—the 24/7 Classic Nursing Bra as well. I have a bony chest and wires have always bothered me a bit. So I figured comfort was essential for this stage of life. They’re incredibly soft and supportive despite being wireless. In fact, the day I tried it on, I ended up wearing it around all day. Even though I’m not nursing yet, ha! The nursing bras have convenient clasps in the front and at the top of the straps for easy nursing. The best part? They’re really pretty! They’re simple, but feel feminine and beautiful—something I might need reminding of in a few weeks!
Sure, I could have waited until after he was born to order my correct size, but like I said, I really wanted to be totally prepared, hence the early ordering!
Always forward thinking, I also ordered this 24/7 Classic Wireless Bra for when I’m done breastfeeding. Since it arrived, I’ve been wearing it non-stop. It’s incredibly comfortable and fits perfectly. I have no set schedule for how long I plan to nurse as I know there are a lot of factors that go into it, but whenever that does happen, I’ll be excited to wear this one again. A few of your also suggested comfortable bralettes and I love the simple and unique design of these Seamless Lounge Bras. I’ve also got my eyes on this comfy Organic Cotton Jogger Set—early Christmas present? I think so.
Lastly, I know that not all of you are in the market for nursing bras, and ThirdLove has a lot more to offer. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, I recommend checking out their site. Their fit-finder makes it easy to find the right bra and size for you and there are so many pretty options! How gorgeous is this Longline Lace Balconette Bra? And, for everyday wear, I highly recommend this 24/7 Classic Wireless Bra and have heard great things about the 24/7 Classic T-Shirt Bra.
For all my moms out there, have you tried ThirdLove’s nursing bras? And for everyone else, when was the last time you bought new bras? It might be time for an upgrade!
Thanks to ThirdLove, a brand I love and trust, for partnering on this post. Partnerships like this help make The Fox & She possible!
