Is it crazy that I’m already thinking about fall? Yes, it’s still in the 80s and 90s most days, but I know that cooler days will be here soon enough! We’ve had a few days where the temperature drops a bit and it reminds me how much I love fall. Is it just me or does everything seem to slow down just a wee bit?
Fall is also my favorite season to dress for—sweaters, booties and cozy layers? You’re speaking my language. The only downside is that the cold weather lasts so long here that by the end of winter, I’m dying to wear anything other than those things. So, as much as I love getting snuggled in a big chunky sweater, I really try to make my summer pieces last as long as possible so I don’t get sick of jeans and sweaters too quickly.
The easiest way to do this is by switching up your accessories. This dress is the perfect example of how to transition a summer dress into the next season.
First off, can we talk about how awesome this dress is? It’s cotton, super comfortable, loose and so versatile. Despite the fact that it’s a cotton dress, I find that the material is heavier than average and looks much nicer than your typical t-shirt dress. If lavender isn’t your thing, they have more colors here. I’ve worn it for a date night paired with these colorblock sandals that I’m completely in love with, and I’ve worn it with sneakers when Owen and I go to the park.

As fall hits, I’ll be adding my favorite suede jacket that’s back again this year in a few new colors like acorn, army green, cream, blue and red. Add a pair of ankle boots or tall boots for when it’s a bit cooler and I’m set!
I’m trying not to get ahead of myself and focusing on being present and soaking up these last few weeks (months?) of summer. I know as soon as it gets cold I’m going to miss those nights where we hung out on our patio with Owen only in his diaper!
Do you try to make your summer pieces last into fall? How do you like to style them as the seasons change?
