I wore an old Nicole Miller dress to the wedding we attended in Denver about a week ago. It was purchased for a college formal many many years ago and has been hanging in my closet ever since. I absolutely adore this dress, but don’t get that many opportunities to wear it. This wedding was the perfect opportunity to show it off again. I love its bright colors, bold pattern, and, of course, the way it fits.

Nicole Miller’s latest collection didn’t have the same look at this old dress, but Clover Canyon has got the bold look down. Their dresses and skirts are packed full of funky patterns and bold color combinations that will give you a similar look to my old Nicole Miller dress.

I have several more weddings to attend this month and I’m really tempted to wear this dress just once more. Eek! I just love it! What do you think? Too memorable to wear twice in the same month?

Summer Wants

I couldn’t be happier that it is finally feeling like summer here! A large chunk of June was filled with temperatures in the 60s and too much rain. Needless to say, I’ll be hitting the beach at some point this weekend to enjoy the sunshine and warmth! I spent too much some time yesterday browsing some of my favorite online stores and found some things that I wished were mine right now.

I’m wanting a few new pillows for my bed, and love this simple ikat one. Beautiful color! The real question here is to sew or to buy? And if I sew, does anyone know of a good fabric store in Chicago?

This Phillip Lim bag is super high on my wish list. I love the color and styling, but I’ll need to do some serious saving. These little herb labels would be perfect for my patio garden and the cups would be perfect for making some watermelon basil sangria, right? Oh, and I’d be wearing this amazing white jacket.

While I was in Denver last week, I picked up some makeup and there was a sample of Boscia’s BB Cream in my bag. Talk about amazing! My skin looks so smooth, the color blends perfectly and it has SPF already mixed in. I love being able to take one step out of my morning routine.

We’re headed to a TCU/SMU alumni boat party tonight and hoping to check out a few more festivals on Saturday. Got any big plans? Either way, have a happy happy weekend!

That Big Painting

Well, it’s been many, many months since I decided I was going to paint my own abstract piece of artwork, but finally the big one is done!

After I found the canvas and had it shipped, I have to admit that it sat in my living room, blank, for another few months. I decided to do a smaller practice canvas first. It was a huge help in learning how to better mix colors and use my brushes. The final big one didn’t look anything like the first one, but I really love both of them and have them both hanging in the house. The color schemes are different and the design/pattern/texture is also quite different, but they make me happy when I look at them and that’s all that matters I suppose! The big one also made for a nice back drop when Christine was helping me shoot pics for the Sweet Lemon Mag feature.

I enjoyed painting this big canvas so much and couldn’t believe how much of a stress-reliever it was at the end of the day. Maybe someday when I have fewer obligations, I’ll devote some real time to painting. Until then, it’ll be random projects I guess!
