Rob and I flew to Denver last week for the 4th of July and a family friend’s wedding. It was such a wonderful break, and something I definitely needed. We slept late, relaxed, exercised a bit, sat by the pool, ate tasty food and danced at the wedding. The morning of the wedding, Rob and I drove to Red Rocks Amphitheater for a short hike and for me to actually see the amphitheater.

We didn’t have a ton of time, and the 40 minute round trip hike was perfect for the morning. Not only was it a good workout (hello, altitude!), but it was also a great place to get quite the view. I wish we could have stayed a little longer and gone to the mountains to do some real hiking, but we’ll be back!

This week has been spent catching up on lots and lots of work — two blog launches already! Check out The Style & Beauty Doctor & JJ Begonia when you have a moment. Danielle’s blog is full of great tips that I most definitely need to learn and Carlynn’s is full of some pretty delicious looking recipes and drinks! With Marianne vacationing this month, I’m trying to stay as focused as possible to stay on top of things, which, fortunately, seems to be working! Well, for now anyway — happy hump day!

Pin & Win

I have a few pieces that are truly amazing — uncommon, one-of-a-kind and made especially for me. I treasure these and love when people ask where I got them. With millions of blogs out there, it seems that the newness of some trends and even pieces get exhausted quickly with everyone wearing the same thing. My personal style has always been a touch eclectic. Not overly crazy, but I love pairing an edgy piece with a more conservative outfit, so these choice pieces hold a special spot in my heart.

One of the best things about those unique pieces is that I really never get tired of them. They’re in style every year and they still get the same love from strangers on the street.

So, what if I told you that a brand new online store was launching soon that specialized in, you guessed it, unique apparel. shopUNIQUES.com launches mid-August and will be full of rare items, curated from emerging European and North American designers. Being someone who absolutely loves having that piece that no one, or at least very few people have, I couldn’t be happier to hear about their upcoming launch! Just be sure to request your invite before then!

This brings me to my next point! Right now they have a pretty amazing Pinterest contest going on. Let’s face it, we all like free stuff, and winning a $500 gift card from shopUNIQUES.com would pretty incredible, right? To enter, you simply create a Pinterest board titled “shopUNIQUES.com Dream Outfit Giveaway”, pin 10 or more stylish outfits and follow shopUNIQUES.com on Pinterest. Once your board is complete, head to their Pinterest Giveaway board to post a link to your board and you’re officially entered!

I’ve created mine, and went a bit overboard on the pinning, but once I get pinning, things can get out of control. If you’re like me, pinning is a bit of a hobby, so entering should be a no-brainer.

As if sourcing a collection of extraordinary pieces wasn’t enough, there’s still more. Stylists and personal shoppers can take advantage of their private shopping sessions where you can invite your clients to view select pieces chosen by you. shopUniques.com also has a magazine portion that features trend reports, style advice, giveaways and spotlights on both bloggers and designers!

I’m looking forward to the launch and in the meantime will continue pinning fashionable outfits to my board. Now head over there and get to pinning!

In the meantime, make sure to follow shopUNIQUES.com on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest (obviously) and Tumblr and request your invite to shopUNIQUES.com today!

Casual Monday

For me, Mondays are usually the casual day. Why? My pile of to-dos is extra high at the beginning of the week, and I prefer to keep things simple, basic and comfortable.

The whole casual Monday thing has been especially true for me lately. For the next 5 weeks (and past two weeks!), Oliver and I have been attending puppy school to learn some all of the basics, and this is the perfect thing to wear. It’s easy to move around in and if a dog gets a muddy paw on my jeans, it’s not the end of the world.

I also try to wear my glasses at least once a week to give my eyes a rest. I know everyone is all about Warby Parker, but I’m personally a fan of Eye Bobs. When I worked for my dad, the store carried these and I snagged a pair at market one summer. They’re technically reading glasses, but they’re made to eyeglass standards and the lens can easily be replaced with your prescription. Just make sure you go to a smaller shop, LensCrafters wasn’t into the idea, but a smaller boutique place did it!

So whether it’s sweatpants, glasses, jeans or a sundress, what do you wear on your casual days?
