Illuminating Cream Highlighter | Hydrating Foundation, I wear Sand | Blush in Nectar | Eye Pencil | Eyeshadow Palette in Classic | Lip Gloss in Poppy Shimmer

Last week, I shared a really quick tip on making your eyes look brighter and I got so many good responses, I figured I’d share it again. It’s the easiest trick and won’t make your morning makeup routine any longer.

What it does do? Make your eyes look brighter and more awake!

I’m thankful that my baby sleeps and I actually get pretty good sleep, but my eyes can always use a little help—any one else?

It’s the very last step in my makeup routine and makes a big difference. All I do is swipe a little bit of this cream highlighter stick under my eyes, at the top of my cheekbones and just down the middle of my nose. I lightly rub it in with my finger and I’m done. It adds just the slightest bit of pearly shimmer that makes your eyes pop.

I actually used to do this little trick years ago, but had stopped when I swapped over my makeup to cleaner products. I was excited when I came across this highlighter stick that’s totally safe and works just as well! When I was pregnant with Owen, I started switching all my skincare and beauty products over. Honestly, before then, I had no idea how little regulation there was over the cosmetics industry. For example, there hasn’t been a law passed since 1920 and the U.S. only bans or restricts 30 ingredients compared to the E.U. which bans 1400. Kinda terrifying right?

And, since our skin is super porous and absorbs a lot of what we put on it, it made total sense to switch my products to ones that didn’t contain potentially harmful ingredients.

You guys know that wellness and my health is really passionate to me…

From everything to eating, exercising, sleeping and taking care of my body and mind. It didn’t make sense that I was taking all these other precautions in other areas of my life, but not paying any attention to the products I was using on my own body and in my home. It’s actually been a really fun process and I’ve loved learning more about it and sharing it with you guys!

I first If you’re still on the fence about clean beauty, I always recommend starting with just one product. You don’t have to do it all at once! I most definitely didn’t. I polled you guys on Insta Stories earlier this month to get your Beautycounter (my go-to spot for clean beauty, and why I became a consultant) favorites and shared them below!

Top 5 Reader Picks from Beautycounter

Resurfacing Peel: If you buy one product, I always suggest this one. It’s a powerhouse product and helps even skin tone and lighten dark spots.
Countermatch Moisturizer: One of my favorite moisturizers EVER. A little goes a long way, typically a tube lasts 2 months or a little longer
Makeup Remover Wipes: These things are amazing! They’re biodegradable too and really do easily remove your makeup, amazing for travel.
Facial Mist: I use the charcoal mist everyday, but several of you also recommended the plumping mist (I need to try it!)
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer: This one is great for light coverage and has SPF in it. I love the Hydrating Foundation too!

Let me know if you have any questions on clean beauty or this quick tip!
