Downtown Denver

This year we spent the Christmas holidays with Rob’s family in Denver. One of my favorite things about Denver is that it’s sunny nearly everyday. It’d been so dark and gloomy in Chicago and I needed that boost of sunshine!

Over the course of our time there we went hiking at Red Rocks, cooked a bunch of meals at home, relaxed and slept late, played darts in the basement, watched Christmas movies, and spent some time catching up with Rob’s friends from high school. On the Friday before Christmas, we met Rob’s friends in Capitol Hill at a great little burger spot called Tag Burger Bar. It’d been so long since we’d seen all of them in once place and I loved getting to catch up with all their wives! They’re such fun and kind people and it’s a bummer that we only get to see them a couple times a year.

I wore this micro pleat top that I’m obsessed with paired with jeans and this cozy cashmere cardigan which was perfect for the weather that day. I’ve been wearing these flat suede booties like crazy. They’re super comfortable and I’m definitely packing them for our trip to Europe in a few weeks!

This burger spot was so delicious! I’m usually not a big burger gal, but these were tasty, fresh and not huge, which I really appreciated, ha! After lunch, Rob and I popped downtown to one of our favorite spots to have a drink, Union Station. If you’re making a trip to Denver, make sure to at least take a stroll through here! It’s full of fun restaurants, bars, ice creams shops and even a hotel. You can also take the train to and from the airport which is super convenient.

We snapped these pictures outside and then went inside for a drink at Terminal Bar. The inside was decorated for the holidays and full of people. The last time we came to town we had dinner at the restaurant called Mercantile, which was soooo tasty, I highly recommend it! After we left, we stopped by some friends’ house for a bit before driving back to Rob’s parents’ home for dinner.

It was such a fun and relaxing day and the perfect way to kick off the Christmas weekend! How were your holidays? Have you visited Denver before?

BTW, our engagement trip to Quebec City, and colorful and quaint Notting Hill.
