Mamas, I need your help!

I was having a conversation with someone recently about Owen and she asked how old he was. I said 20 months and she said, “wow, so he’ll be getting a big boy bed soon!”

I was like, uhhh, should he be?

To be honest, I haven’t put much thought into it until now, which is exactly why I’d love to hear what you guys did with your kids.

It seems like there’s two schools of thought on moving your toddler to a big kid bed.

One—keep them in their crib as long as possible because it’s easy

Two—transition them around this 2-2.5 years old.

Owen will be two in mid-November, so we’ve got some time, but I really don’t know which camp I fall into. My biggest fear is that he’ll start coming in our room in the middle of the night and think it’s okay to sleep there. I know that works for some people, but I’m a light sleeper! I really don’t want to be woken up in the middle of the night, potentially multiple times a night, on a regular basis. I value my sleep, and I’m scared that it might get interrupted. Am I crazy?

On the flip side, Owen has been an amazing sleeper since 3 months, you can read my post here on how we got him to sleep at that age. He never wakes up and cries in the night, and if he does wake up, he just rolls over, gets comfy and goes straight back to bed. So, maybe it won’t be an issue at all?

The other upside is that his crib actually turns into a toddler bed, so I’m hoping that makes the transition a little bit easier!

Anyway, I’m at a loss for what to do and when?! Two? Two and a half? Please mamas, share all of your tips and input in the comments! I know other moms will appreciate everyone’s experiences too!
