A Place to Dine
clockwise from top: one / two / three / four / five / six
My next major DIY project is going to be a new dining room table. Right now I have the dining room table I bought in college from Pier 1 and it’s been great. It’s also seen better days. Too many college art projects happened on there and then Oliver really attacked those legs… but either way, it’s served its purpose and I’m ready for something new and a little more unique.
I’ve been talking about this project for way too long and I think it’s finally going to happen this spring. The idea I keep coming back to? A herringbone topped table! I’ve been seeing it pop everywhere from doors, ceilings to floors and I’m in love.
I’m not 100% sure how I’m going to tackle this, but thankfully my dad is quite the handyman so I’m not too worried! The next question will be where will I build this beauty? And what color to stain it — dark or light?
Spa Day at Home

I’m not good at pampering myself. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it, because who doesn’t, but really more that I never take the time to just do it! I’ll treat myself to a facial a couple times of year, but that’s really it. Sad, but true.
When Hanes Hosiery sent me this box full of spa at home goodies, I was thrilled to take an afternoon and just chill out. I got lucky a few weekends ago when the neighbors invited Oliver to go to Michigan with them and spent a good portion of my day in my PJs on the couch. After I was feeling good and relaxed the spa time began.
I started by taking off my old nail polish and then applied the face mask. After sitting in quietly on my couch while it dried, I hopped in the shower to rinse it off and then use the foot scrub and pumice stone. Since I almost never get pedicures, my feet felt amazing after that and the scrub smelled awesome. I’ve also realized that I need to make face masks a weekly tradition. My skin felt so much smoother and refreshed!
I retired back to the couch to paint my nails and put the rolling foot massager to work. I laid around on the couch for quite some time after that with a cup of tea and probably dozed off a few times. It was such a nice afternoon and good to take some time for myself. Thanks again Hanes! You reminded me that I need to do this more often and that it’s simple to do at home!

I definitely wasn’t one of those girls who had their whole wedding planned out before I got engaged, so since then I’ve been scouring Pinterest for inspiration. Being a designer, paper products were something I always looked forward to designing and picking out. I’ve gone from loving all kinds of styles, but when it comes to my own wedding, I lean towards something a little more traditional. Okay, so maybe not that traditional, but traditional in the calligraphy and simple crisp font sense.
I love the calligraphy in these and I love the handwritten invites even more! I’m also loving the darker or colored paper with lighter color script on them — so gorgeous!
It’s tough for me to pick a favorite from these, but the last four pictured here are high on my list! What about you?
