It’s about this time of the year when I start regretting all of the treats I ate and wine I drank during the holidays. Though this year, I have to admit, I feel much less guilty about it! Nine months of no drinking will do that to you, haha! As much as I love the holidays and being with family, I always get excited for the new year. It’s like hitting the restart button and suddenly I’m motivated to pick up healthier habits once again.
With the new year on our heels, I’ve been getting excited for detoxing a bit and getting back into a healthier and more normal schedule. I laugh a bit because my “normal schedule” is ever-evolving at this point! Either way, cooking more and getting to hot yoga a few times a week are major goals for the month of January.
Since I’m not sure how often I’ll actually get the chance to go to yoga, I’m starting with changes I can easily make at home. Detox smoothies are one of my favorite go-to snacks or breakfasts these days. They’re quick, simple to make and easy to consume when you only have one hand free. Healthy smoothies make it easy to get more fiber, fruits and veggies into your diet as well.
I rounded up five yummy looking healthy smoothie recipes with different flavor profiles and can’t wait to try them all!
5 Yummy Detox Smoothies:
1. Grapefruit Detox Smoothie
I absolutely love grapefruit in the morning and never thought to add it to a smoothie, but this sounds amazing! A good dose of vitamin C and citrus in the morning always helps me wake up! Get the recipe here.
2. Sunrise Detox Smoothie
This one actually reminds me of a tropical cocktail—doesn’t it look like one?! It’s full of healthy stuff like immune-boosting vitamin C which is perfect during the winter when I feel like I get more run down. Get the recipe here.
3. Golden Glow Pineapple Turmeric Smoothie
Turmeric is so good for you! It’s anti-inflammatory and warming. Pineapple is also one of my favorite fruits so I’ll definitely be trying this one. Get the recipe here.
4. Beet Banana Breakfast Smoothie
I’ll be honest, I actually can’t stand beets on their own, but when they’re mixed into things, I don’t mind at all. They’re super good for you and since I won’t be eating them in my salad, this is a great way to get those nutrients into my diet. Get the recipe here.
5. Detoxifying Green Apple Smoothie
I love a good green smoothie and love the addition of apple in here. It gives it a nice tart flavor and added fiber! Get the recipe here.
Are you getting ready for the new year? Have you started any of your resolutions early?
BTW, my favorite green smoothie, and curried butternut squash soup recipe.
