I’m so excited that it’s Wednesday because it means we’re that much close to a 3-day weekend! Do you guys have any fun plans? To be honest, I actually thought we still had another week before Memorial Day, so we don’t have anything on the calendar.
I’m also really excited because in honor of Memorial Day, Beautycounter has an amazing sunscreen promotion happening! When you spend $125 or more, you’ll get a complimentary Summer Sun Set, which includes a 3oz. Countersun Mist and a 1oz. Countersun lotion—just in time for summer!
For all my girls who have Band of Beauty! Make sure to check and see how much credit you have! If you’re not a member of Band of Beauty, you can join today—it’s $29/year and gets you free shipping on orders over $100, a free welcome gift when you spend over $50, and 10% product credit back on all your purchases! It’s such a steal and if you plan on ordering at least 2x this year, it’s worth it.
P.S. If you haven’t signed up for my clean beauty list, make sure you do it before you place your order or an extra something special!
We used this sunscreen on our trip to Naples and it worked so well, Rob was the only one that got burnt and I think that was user error in application, haha! We used it on Owen to with no issues as well.
If you’re new around here and haven’t heard of Beautycounter, we’re a safer skincare and beauty company with a social mission to change the legislation around the cosmetic industry. Our goal is that someday we won’t have to worry about what’s on labels, but in the meantime, we’re providing safer, cleaner and highly effective products. Believe me when I say that—as someone who’s struggled with breakouts my entire life, my skin has never looked better than it does now!
But, today, I wanted to pay homage to one of my all-time favorite products—the Cleansing Balm. If you’ve tried it, you get it. And, if you haven’t, you’ll want to after this post! It’s truly an all in one product that has so many uses and packs quite the punch! And, even better news, the price has dropped to $69! It’s slightly smaller (like .2oz smaller I think) and no longer has the cloth, but honestly, I would always end up using a regular washcloth.
It’s been a part of my skincare routine for over a year now and I’ve finally nailed down a routine that’s left my skin feeling glowy, soft, subtle and smoother than ever before. I can’t believe how much my skin has transformed these past few months once I started using it as my nightly cleanser and can’t wait for you guys to see the results too!

Uses
Like I mentioned earlier, this is really an all-in-one product! There are so many uses for them, and this is probably not even covering them all!
Remove Makeup: Put an almond-size amount onto your skin and massage gently. Take a warm rag and wipe away your makeup to reveal clean skin. Works on eye makeup too, but be careful to not get it in your eye because it stings a bit.
Facial Cleanser: My favorite use! Since using the cleansing balm as a nightly cleanser, I’ve seen huge improvements in my overall skin’s tone, clarity and brightness! I’m sharing my tutorial below.
Hydrating Mask: If your skin needs a little hydration boost, put the balm on clean skin and let it sit for 10-20 minutes. Remove with a damp cloth.
Replenishing Overnight Mask: Okay, if 20 minutes isn’t enough for you and you need mega, serious hydration. Put it on clean skin and wear it overnight. Rinse with a warm cloth in the morning!
Heal Dry Skin: Any dry skin you can think of, put some balm on it—elbows, heels, cuticles, hands, lips—you name it, it’ll work!
Soothe Chapped Skin: This is more for winter, but oh my, does my skin get chapped on cold, windy days! Using this heals it so quickly!
To Calm Breakouts: I’m always skeptical on products for breakouts, but I’ve been so impressed with this. It gets deep in your pores and cleans them so well without over-drying. It calms inflammation, hydrates and heals. It’s seriously a miracle-worker for anyone with breakout prone skin!
Stretch Mark Prevention & Healing: I didn’t use this with Owen, but I will the next go around. Using a small amount on your stomach throughout your pregnancy can greatly help to reduce stretch marks, though not completely—everyone’s body reacts differently to pregnancy.
If you just had a baby and are working to restore your stomach, try it! I think it would work wonderfully!
How To Use Beautycounter Cleansing Balm
As you can see, there are a lot of different uses for the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm, making it such a versatile product to have in your bathroom.
I use it at night as a cleanser and it has worked so well! I still can’t believe how much better my skin looks after just a few months of regularly washing my face with it. Here’s how I do it!
Wash your Hands
This is really step one for any skincare routine, and one that I used to forget all the time. If we’re cleaning our skin with dirty fingers, are we really cleaning our skin?! Start by washing your hands with a gentle cleanser, like this safe hand soap. We have them in our bathrooms and kitchen!
Remove Makeup
You can use the cleaning balm as your makeup remover, but I’ve found that I like using it as a cleanser better, and I start by removing my makeup with these makeup removing wipes.
Can I take a second to brag on these makeup removing wipes?
I’ve tried so many different makeup wipes over the years and I hated them all. Until I tried these. They have this awesome texture on them that actually gets the makeup off without hard scrubbing. They’re also more moist which helps to loosen makeup and dirt. Lastly, they’re biodegradable, so if you have a compost pile, add them! If not, that’s okay too, you can still feel good about using them!
Apply to Skin
Use the included scoop when scooping it out of the jar. This ensures that you’re not transferring any bacteria from your fingers into the container. A little goes a long way with this product which makes it extra worth it because it lasts a long time!
Massage an almond size amount onto dry skin. Then start massaging it into your skin. I like to start with my cheeks, forehead and eyebrows (yes, eyebrows too!). Using light circular motions, massage the product gently into your skin applying gentle pressure for at least a minute.
You don’t want to use too heavy pressure, but by applying gentle pressure to cheeks and forehead you can stimulate lymphatic draining. Make sure to massage your eyebrows for increased circulation too—weirdly, massaging your eyebrows is soooo relaxing!
Remove Cleansing Balm
To remove the cleansing balm, dampen a cleansing cloth in warm water. Use warm, not hot water, you don’t want to burn your skin by using super hot water. You can use a muslin cloth, or just a regular ole cotton washcloth—just make sure it’s clean! I have a collection of these under our counter now.
Squeeze out the excess water and place the warm cloth over your face. I like to let it sit there for a few seconds—it’s like a mini spa treatment and it’s so relaxing. Gently wipe off balm, you can re-wet the cloth to make sure you get it all. Rinse skin with cool water and pat dry!
Apply Other Products
After that, I go about my nightly routine as normal. For me, this is what my nightly routine looks like after I’ve cleansed:
- No. 3 Balancing Mist: I spray this all over my face to help balance oil production and let it dry before moving onto the next step.
- No. 1 Brightening Oil: I use about 3-5 drops and massage into my skin, it’s helped a bunch with evening my skin tone and brightening the darker areas of sun damage on my forehead
- Overnight Resurfacing Peel: I use this every other night! It gently exfoliates your skin and leaves it looking so radiant the next day. On my off nights, I either use this Radiance Serum or this Concentrated Vitamin C serum.
- Rejuvenating Eye Cream: Lastly, a little eye cream because I’m not getting any younger! This one has been my favorite for years because it simply works! I couldn’t recommend it more if you’re looking for a good, safer alternative for eye cream.
Hydrate
Okay, not totally part of my skincare routine, but I always make sure to hydrate well throughout the day, but also at night! It makes such a big difference and helps with my sleep as well!
I hope that helps! I’m also working on a big sunscreen post, but do yourself a favor and make sure you snag it while supplies last!
