Shopping the Magnificent Mile
One of the best parts about living downtown is that we’re just steps away from Michigan Avenue, otherwise known as the Magnificent Mile. Being a style blogger, living so close to shopping can be a bit tempting, but it’s really changed my shopping routine and experience. I used to be almost a strictly online shopper until we moved down here. I won’t lie, I really loved the delayed gratification of getting a package in the mail, but there’s something really fun about going into a store and browsing that you just can’t get from a website. Plus, you walk away with all your goodies in hand and don’t have to wait to wear them!
Last week I hopped over to LOFT on Michigan Ave to stock up on some new spring pieces for upcoming travel and in anticipation of my favorite time of year in Chicago. Their Michigan Ave store is bright and inviting and makes it easy to find everything you need (as well as few things you didn’t know you needed).
One of my favorite things about LOFT was the dressing rooms. There’s nothing worse than a dark, poorly lit dressing room and LOFT’s are the exact opposite — bright and well-lit with big mirrors. It makes it easy to get an idea of how you’ll look in the clothing once you leave the store. The all white interior makes everything pop and the lighting was doing wonders for my hair and makeup that day! The staff was amazing and ran back and forth as I requested a laundry list of different sizes and colors — apparently I’m more indecisive than I thought.
I walked out of the store with this loose pocketed tank, this lasercut black skirt (also comes in coral), a bold statement necklace that’s budget-friendly and this army green anorak that’s the perfect weight for spring. Each of these pieces are so versatile and will get a whole lot of wear throughout spring and summer. A few other pieces I loved were this scalloped dress, this lacy pencil skirt, this lace contrast dress and this yellow eyelet skirt.
Another thing I love about going into the store is that I end up finding pieces that really speak to me that I had overlooked online. Being able to touch each piece, see the fabric in person, and of course, try it on is why I’ve found myself shopping in store so much more than I used to. So tell me, what’s your favorite way to shop?!
