A few weeks back I stopped into Lula Cafe in Chicago for lunch with a friend. I first discovered it when my friend Paige and I went for brunch several years ago. I was instantly in love. Not only is the food at this Logan Square spot absolutely delicious, the restaurant itself is darling. It’s funky and eclectic in its decor and cozy and intimate in its feeling. It always makes me feel like I’m back in Austin, Texas.
Their food is ‘farm to table’, which means the menu is constantly changing based on what’s in season. Alongside their menu, daily specials are always available too. I’ve had the most killer chilaquiles off that menu and wish those were a staple, though not knowing what you’re going to get each time is part of the fun! One thing I can always count on is delicious food and great drinks! This past visit I had a really tasty, yet simple sandwich served with a fresh salad and Shaheen had the breakfast burrito. They were both amazing! The green salsa on that breakfast burrito — yum (I’ve ordered it once before!).
If you’re in Chicago and looking to get outside the downtown area, you should add Lula Cafe to your list for either brunch or lunch. I can’t comment on dinner since I haven’t been, but I can imagine that it’s pretty amazing too!
