I’d been on the hunt for some new jeans, so I popped in and found so many great pieces for spring and summer and scored them all for a major discount—wahoo! I wanted to share some of my favorite pieces that I grabbed, as well as some sizing details because Madewell’s sizing is pretty wonky in my opinion.
If you haven’t shopped at Madewell, it’s easily one of my favorite places for denim that’s well-made, but not outrageously expensive, and amazing basics—think tees & tanks in standard colors. I like to think of it as a great place to build an amazing capsule wardrobe (p.s. my spring capsule wardrobe is coming soon!).
While they do amazing in the basics category, they’re not “basic”—for example, I grabbed this white button down shirt, a classic, but this one had fun embroidery detailing on it that make it feel so unique and special. So while you’ll get some essentials, there’s always fun pieces to fall in love with too.

Madewell Sale
Here’s what I bought at the sale, plus sizing notes on each of these items. What I consistently find with Madewell is that it runs big. I’m normally a small in tops and 26 in jeans, and at Madewell I’m pretty consistently an XS in tops and 25 in jeans.
Perfect Vintage Wide Leg Crop Jeans
I’ve been looking for a pair of bone-colored jeans and these are perfect. They hit at the perfect ankle length, have a raw hem and are incredibly comfortable. I’ve loved their Perfect Vintage style and wide leg version is amazing too.
They’re almost white, but not stark white which is good for my life as a mom and I love that it feels a bit more organic than a stark white.
I took a size 25 in these jeans, one down from what I would normally order.
Harlow Wide-Leg Linen Pants
I love a trouser and the minute I put these on, I knew they were coming home with me. They’re incredibly comfortable, soft and I know I will be wearing them so often.
If green isn’t your thing, they come in more colors like navy, white, black, red and a blue and white stripe. These would be great for casual days or even nice enough to wear to the office. I think it all depends on what top and shoes you pair with them.
I’m normally a 2 or 4 in pants and got the 2 here.
Resort Long-Sleeve Shirt in Embroidered Eyelet
I was searching for a white button-down and came across this embroidered one—not as classic, but I loved the detail and it fit so well. Plus, I’m a sucker for embroidered details!
I went with the XS here as it’s oversized a bit to begin with and this fit more like a small in my opinion. I’ll be wearing this top with the jeans skirt below, jeans, pants, essentially anything! It’s a winner in my book for sure.
Rilee Denim Midi Skirt
I had a similar skirt to this years ago and of course got rid of it and now it’s back. I love this skirt so much. It definitely runs big, I actually ended up getting the 23 which felt insane, but the other sizes were just too big and the skirt didn’t sit properly. The 24 was pretty close, but I ended up thinking this fit a little better and wasn’t as loose on the legs.
I’m a big jeans girl and I thought it would be nice to have something that’s got a similar look, but a different style. I’ll be wearing this skirt with tanks all summer, the beautiful white top above and even some of my favorite blouses from Sezane.
Rib Cutaway Tank
Okay, remember how I said Madewell is a great place for basics? This tank is the perfect example of this. Simple, classic, love the cut and comes in several colors. I grabbed the white and also ordered the black (they were out in my size in store).
I took the XS, the small fit, but was loose around the armholes which made it easy to see my bra. I loved this tank because it’s long enough to tuck in, many other options were cropped.
Scoopneck Crop Tank in Linen
Lastly, this one was a bit of an impulse, but I saw it on the rack, tried it on and loved it. It has a cropped fit and looks really cute with the above trousers as a set, or with those wide-leg jeans from above too. Definitely a great one for casual summer days ahead.
I also thought it would look really great with black or cream trousers for a fun date night look.
I got a 2 in this top, which I would say is actually closest to my normal size.
