This is definitely a question where the answer has changed over the years. I used to love me some summer—anything July or August—because it meant no school and lots of outdoor time. I can also remember loving December because it meant extra cookies and Christmas presents. But, I think it’s safe to say that I’ve settled on October as being my favorite.

I do love a good summer day at the beach and a cozy holiday party with family and friends, but October seems to have the best of all worlds (ok, and it also has my birthday). Here’s what else I love about October…

Weather

In my book, the weather is the best. It’s usually not too cold yet and the air starts to turn from humid or hot to crisp. It’s the true change of seasons which is always appreciated after a hot summer.

Sports

I’m a huge sports fan, and October covers a lot of ground. It’s the baseball playoffs, NFL and college football season, and the NBA starts. Obviously this might not be a huge deal to everyone, but I love the competition and community aspect sports bring. It’s also breast cancer awareness month and I love to see the athletes show their support with pink accessories. Plus, it’s pretty easy to use the whole “being lazy” card on a Saturday or Sunday when football is on—it’s not just reserved for the guys.

Pace

October always feels pretty chill. Other than a wedding or a birthday, it’s a bit of a lag in between pool parties and Thanksgiving madness. The pace slows down and people seem to have more free time. I love to start spending time in doors cuddling up to my dog and boyfriend, and having friends over for relaxed movie nights.

Soup

I’m probably the only person on the planet who actually doesn’t love pumpkin or apple-flavored fall meals, BUT I do love soup! There’s something about bringing out the crock pot and the ease of making hearty soups. I have my eye on this one as soon as the October weather hits.

I’m curious what the most popular favorite month is! What’s yours?
