Well, it’s official! Rob and I signed a new lease last night and I’ll be moving into our new place at the end of the month. I’m so so so excited about this place. The location is amazing, it’s modern and has huge windows for lots of natural light. My stress levels have come down significantly and now it’s time to sort out some of the more fun details! Like should we reupholster the couch or get a new one?

I bought the Buchanan couch several years ago from Pottery Barn that I adore. After a few years in Dallas, my move to Chicago and the past two years (a puppy, rips, and wine spills), it’s seen better days. I chose a light oatmeal tan color originally and it was great, but it definitely shows when it gets dirty. So if we decide to go the reupholstering route, which I’m leaning towards since it’ll be cheaper than buying a new couch, we’ve got to pick a color.

I’ve been browsing Pinterest and I keep finding myself coming back to grey and navy. To set the stage a little bit, this is the rug I want for that room. Grey is always beautiful, but our new place is more modern and has a lot of concrete, so I don’t know if grey will just make it feel cold? I love navy and it’s richness and warmth, but worry about getting just the right color of navy fabric. Either way, it’ll be adorned with some bright pops of color from pillows, a natural touch with my DIY wood slab table and I’m sure I’ll add some sort of greenery to soften things up.

But the real question is what color to go with? What would you pick with this rug?
