Last weekend I flew to Tennessee with my mom and sisters for a long weekend getaway at Southall Farm & Inn. We’ve made this girls’ get together an annual thing and it’s been so fun to get together since we all live in different cities.

If you’ve been looking for a relaxing getaway with a spa and delicious food, you’ll want to add Southall to your list ASAP! The property is in Franklin, TN, which is just a 45 minute drive from Nashville’s airport. We landed and called and Uber which was wonderful because we didn’t want to have to deal with renting a car. We pulled in and were greeted with greenhouses, rolling mountains, gardens and the most beautiful building which houses their restaurants, spas and the hotel portion.

I don’t know that I’ve been to a place when it’s this new, but quite literally everything was pristine, and every detail was thought of. We talked over and over again all weekend how they’d thought of everything when building this and it made the trip even more enjoyable.

The rooms were gorgeous and unique, not just a plain ole white box. The beds and pillows were soft and fluffy and there was a great spot to put your luggage and drawers and a dresser to put your clothes. The bathroom was spacious too, however I’m not sure if every room is this way, but ours was an ADA accessible room, so maybe it was slightly bigger? Either way, it was very large, and a bit smaller wouldn’t have made any difference to us.

Our Southall Farm & Inn Itinerary

Day 1: Thursday

We landed early-afternoon, checked in and dropped our bags and then grabbed lunch at their casual restaurant called Sojourner. It’s also where you can grab a coffee or drink and get breakfast, lunch or dinner everyday. It was laid back, casual, but the food was incredible and all the servers were so kind. You gotta love that Southern hospitality!

After lunch, we popped over to the pool and read and just relaxed. It was so nice to have zero agenda! As the sun set, we went to our rooms and cleaned up for dinner.

We decided to stay on the property that night (and for the majority of our trip) and had dinner at their fancier restaurant called January. We shared a bunch of small plates and everything was really unique and delicious. I loved their hamachi crudo and their heirloom tomato salad was so different and so delicious.

After dinner, we hung out by the outdoor fireplace and chatted and one by one, we headed in for bed.

Day 2: Friday

We had scheduled a full spa day for Friday and I highly recommend doing this if you’re coming. I’d also recommend making your spa appointment for the morning so you can use and enjoy the spa amenities all day long. We all had an appointment around 9:45, so after breakfast, we went over there for a massage.

I cannot explain how beautiful the spa was! Again, every little thing was considered and the interiors were just so dang beautiful. The relaxation room overlooked the outdoor mineral pool and pond. It had some gardens and lounge chairs, plus a big table outside.

The inside was just as thoughtful with all the amenities and extras you’d need like bobby pins, sunscreen, hair products and a really beautiful sauna and steam room.

After our massage, we joined a sound bath class which was really relaxing and helped set the tone for the day then went out to the mineral pool which has 60 different types of minerals in it. I thought this part was really cool because it was outside. So many spas are all indoors and it was nice to have the mix of this calming, natural space within the spa.

We popped over to the outdoor pool for lunch, and came back to the spa for our afternoon treatments—a hydra-facial that I absolutely loved! My skin is still glowing!

For dinner that night, we went into town to Culacinno, a cute Italian spot in downtown Franklin. It was a 10-15 minute ride from Southall and nice to get out and see the town for just a bit. We walked around after dinner before heading back.

Day 3: Saturday

I was really glad we did our spa day on Friday because the hotel filled up more on Saturday. We woke up, had breakfast and then went to a yoga class that was nice and relaxing and then 3 of us went on a hike up to the top of the hill. There are tons of hiking trails all around and they’re all well-marked and easy to navigate. We finished a hike, then walked around the pond to check out the gardens and apple orchard.

We then changed clothes, grabbed our books and went to the pool for a lazy afternoon. There was a guy singing and playing the guitar for most of the day and we enjoyed lunch and honestly just doing nothing. After our busy summers, having time to actually sit and read a book uninterrupted felt like the ultimate treat!

For our last night, we ate at Sojourner and sat outside which was so lovely. The weather was perfect and the tables had the perfect soft lighting—I just loved the whole vibe of it! We went to bed earlier that night as the sun had completely taken it out of me!

Day 4: Sunday

We woke up on Sunday and our flights didn’t leave til mid-afternoon, so we enjoyed a very long, leisurely breakfast with multiple coffees. It’s been so long since I’ve gotten to have a breakfast or brunch like that and it was nothing special, but also incredibly lovely to just get to sit and be without chasing little ones around.

We walked a bit and then packed up and headed out! It was such a lovely few days and so easy to get to—I highly recommend it for a girls’ trip or a trip with your partner. We even saw some families there with small children, although I don’t know that my kids would have loved it, except for the pool. They’re 6 & 4 and typically need more activities!

Overall, 10/10! I would love to come back again with my sisters and mom, another group of girls, or with my husband for a relaxing retreat.

BTW, how to use packing cubes when traveling, and 3 perfect days in Iceland.
