Well, I’ve become a meat snob. Or maybe I’m just lazy? Back in February, just before the pandemic hit, I signed up for ButcherBox. It’s a meat subscription box that delivers high-quality chicken, pork, beef and seafood on a monthly basis and we’ve been hooked ever since!
These pictures are actually back from March when we lived in Chicago and I was pregnant, but I didn’t post because when CoVid hit, they ended up having a waitlist for a long time. Thankfully, the waitlist is up and they’ve caught up with the demand, so if you want to sign up, you finally can!
3 Best Meat Delivery Sources
ButcherBox
ButcherBox is the one that we use and love and that I recommend to people the most. There’s a wide selection of different products to choose from and many different options for boxes. There are some basic ones, or you can do a custom box, which is what we do because I wanted to be able to pick exactly what I wanted!
We typically get chicken breasts, pork tenderloin, sirloin steaks, ground beef, salmon and either a whole chicken or pork butt. You can change up your box each month which I love!
What I love about this is that it’s a subscription. We have to eat every month, and knowing this is coming just makes my life easier. I buy less at the store and go to the store less frequently. As a mom, this is literally the dream, haha!
Right now, when you sign up for the first time you get a free 10-14 lb. turkey with your first order! Perfect for Thanksgiving or Friendsgiving celebrations! If you’re already a customer, you can add a turkey to your box for just $40. If we were hosting here, I’d be grabbing this.
There’s always unique member add-on deals you can add to your box like ground bison or thick cut bacon.
We typically do end up buying an extra pack of chicken breasts or two throughout the month because Owen can eat as much as an adult, but it mostly gets us through the month.
The salmon might be my favorite! They come individually portioned and thaw so quickly, and the flavor is so good. We always bake it at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes and it’s always perfect.
1915 Farm
When I was doing my research, this was another company I came across that had really great reviews. The do have a club option that’s similar to a subscription, but most of their products you can buy one off.
They have unique stuff like Ossobucco, oxtail, Wagyu beef, Italian sausage, flank steak and short ribs which is great if you’re making a very specific recipe and need something specific that may not be available at your store.
CrowdCow
CrowdCow is similar to ButcherBox and has a lot of the same types of products. They also have Kobe beef which is cool, but not necessarily something I would buy myself.
There are several other companies out there that do the same thing, but these were the top ones I discovered in my research and we’ve been so happy with ButcherBox. Again, I love that I can change up my custom box to get some new things or add on new items if I choose!
Do you use a subscription service for your meat? Have you tried ButcherBox?
BTW, easy oven-roasted whole chicken, and grain-free sheet pan nachos.
