Are you struggling with hair loss or hair thinning? Hi, me too. Whether it’s the aftermath of having kids or your hair is simply getting thinner with age, you can actually do something about it.

Vegamour GRO Hair Serum

As someone who’s always had a full head of hair that’s tough and unbreakable, losing my hair was a shock. In November of 2023, I decided I was finally ready to do something about my shedding hair. In all honesty, I hoped that my hair would magically just bounce back to normal after having kids and at this point. Yes, postpartum hair thinning is totally normal, but after 3 years, I was concerned because the hair shedding hadn’t stopped. I hadn’t changed anything from my previous hair care routine, but it no longer seemed to be working for me.

I finally decided to switch up my hair products and focus on my scalp health and it’s made such a big difference! One product I use almost daily is Vegamour’s Gro Serum. It’s designed to help reduce hair shedding and loss (my key issue!) and also help to make your hair look thicker and more full.

After 8 months, I’ve been really happy with the results! I also love how easy it is to make this a normal part of my hair care routine. It doesn’t require you to wash it out after and takes just a few seconds to apply each day.

If you want fuller hair and a healthier scalp so you can boost and encourage growth and thickness, then you should definitely consider giving this a try!

What is Vegamour’s Gro Serum

If you’ve never heard of Vegamour, it’s a vegan, cruelty-free beauty brand and their Gro Hair Serum is a plant-based hair treatment designed to promote hair growth and hair density and improve overall hair health. It’s made with with natural ingredients such as caffeine, turmeric, bergamot oil, and biotin, this serum aims to create a healthy environment for hair follicles.

It’s really lightweight and feels more like a liquid rather than a thick oil, making it great for various hair types, including fine textures that can be weighed down by heavy products or wavy or curly hair too. It also absorbs quickly and doesn’t make your hair look dirty or greasy.

It’s an easy step to add to your hair wellness routine. To apply, just take a dropper-full and massage into sections around your scalp on damn or dry hair. I like to focus on areas where my hair is thinner, especially around the crown of my head.

Best of all, this hair serum is free from harmful hormones and chemicals, making it a great choice for anyone who’s looking for clean options for thicker, fuller-looking hair.

This takes me less than 30 seconds to apply and it’s so lightweight that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t weigh my hair down. I’m done and moving on with my day!

Travel-Friendly: You can easily bring it wherever you go because fo it’s small size. It’s in a leakproof container, so whether you’re at the gym or traveling across the world, you can keep your hair looking it’s best.

How to use GRO Hair Serum

how to apply gro serum

You can apply the hair serum on dry or towel-dried hair which is great because I only wash my hair 2-3x a week. If I’ve showered, I’ll apply it first before adding any other styling ingredients, and if it’s dry, I’ll apply either first thing in the morning after I wash my face and get my contacts in, or if I forget, because that happens a fair amount too, I’ll do before bed.

You simply take one dropper full and place the tip to your scalp and drag it along while gently squeezing so it spreads evenly around your head. I focus on the top of my scalp and the area surrounding my face as one area there was really thinned out after kids.

My Results

My hair journey had been pretty smooth up until having my second child. Since then, I’d been having a lot of shedding, even after he was 3 years old. I took initiative last November and started digging into why I might be having this issue.

A big part of my hair journey this past year has been using the Gro Serum. I’ve been using it for 8 months now and my hair looks infinitely healthier than it did before. It’s softer, shinier and looking thicker than before. I used to have itchy spots on my scalp and those have gone away, and best of all, the areas where it was thinning, are filling in! There are baby hairs around the crown of my head and even in other areas on my scalp.

I do still experience some shedding, but it’s been greatly reduced. I also learned that part of my hair loss was because of an iron deficiency, which is something I’m working on building back up!

I really love this product and would recommend it to anyone who’s struggling with hair loss, thinning or just looking to improve the health of your scalp and hair. You need to give it at least 3 months to see a difference—we all know hair doesn’t grow overnight! Now that I’ve taken it for 8 months, I’ll continue to use it because it works and also because it’s just so easy to do!

Other Ways To Improve Hair Health

Healthy & Protein-Rich Diet

Diet also plays a huge impact in our overall health and also our hair health. Another game changer is ensuring that you’re getting plenty of protein. For women, it’s recommended to eat 40 to 60 grams of protein per day, but I’ve seen people aiming for 30g per meal too. This can help support the body’s ability to grow new hair, as hair is primarily made of protein.

Scalp Massage

Scalp massage can help increase hair growth by stimulating blood circulation to the hair follicles, which enhances nutrient delivery and promotes healthier hair growth. Additionally, massaging the scalp for several minutes each day may improve the absorption of topical products, such as hair serums, making them more effective in supporting hair regrowth. You can do this with a silicone scalp massager, or simply use your clean hands to massage!

Go Easy on the Heat

As someone who used to religiously flat iron their hair everyday, I can say that laying off the heat has been incredibly beneficial to the health of my hair. Earlier in 2024, I decided to really embrace my natural waves and haven’t straightened my hair in months. It’s resulted in fuller, longer-looking hair that’s less breakable. When you do use heat, make sure to use a heat protectant!

Oil Treatments

Oil treatments can significantly improve scalp health by providing deep hydration and nourishment, which helps to soothe irritation and reduce dryness. Additionally, they can enhance blood circulation to the scalp, promoting healthier hair follicles and fostering an optimal environment for hair growth. Try this DIY hair oil for growth—one of my weekly hair care practices I love!

Visit your Doctor

Lastly, when topical solutions aren’t doing anything after 3-6 months, it’s worth going to your doctor to have your scalp checked out and possibly have your bloodwork drawn. Dermatologists will often give you a prescription shampoo to kill any potential infections on your scalp. If that doesn’t work, then running bloodwork is a good next step.

Hair loss can be caused by a vitamin or nutrition deficiency and you often won’t know what it is unless you’ve done bloodwork. Common things to check for would be: Vitamin D, iron, zinc, selenium, folic acid or even a thyroid disorder. I tested for vitamin d, iron and thyroid and found out I was wildly iron deficient (which also explained my fatigue and brain fog). Working on this in tandem with the right hair care has made a massive change in my hair and I’m so grateful that I kept digging until I found the answer.

Overall, I highly recommend you give this a try for at least 3 months so you can start seeing that healthy hair growth. Thicker, stronger, beautiful hair is totally possible, whether you’ve had kids or are simply getting older—aren’t we all?! As a woman, your hair can help boost your confidence, so why not give it a shot? I think you’ll love it as much as I do!
