Well, today’s the day—it’s Friday, and the first wave of holiday parties begins tonight.
In fact, I’ve already had a few little holiday get togethers with my girlfriends this week. On Sunday I went to afternoon tea at The Drake, and on Tuesday I had dinner with Jess, Kelly and Shaheen at Rangoli. Every time we get together we always leave saying, “we need to do this more!” and then another month goes by. Ugh, why is life so busy all the time? Either way, I was so glad we could fit in one last minute dinner before the holidays really get started and everyone leaves town!

Tonight’s party is Rob’s work party, so naturally, I’m dressing up! He started this job at the end of summer, and I’ve actually never met any of his co-workers. I have to admit, I’m a little bit nervous, ha! I’m planning on wearing this velvet skirt and a this simple silky top and dressing it up with these stunning jeweled statement earrings that just arrived from LOFT. It’s rare that I go all black and white, but it’s so classic and the earrings add the perfect amount of sparkle.
I’m also wearing this cozy scarf because it’s seriously cold in Chicago all of the sudden! Even though I don’t love the cold weather, it definitely makes it feel more like the holidays!

This velvet skirt though—I can already tell you that it’s going to get worn a bunch throughout the holiday season. It’ll be so cute paired with this leopard sweater or even a lacy cami for New Year’s Eve!
LOFT is currently running their Holiday Style Event and you can get 40% off EVERYTHING with code STYLEEVENT through December 12. They have so many beautiful and affordable holiday pieces right now, so take advantage! It was tough for me to not leave with a few more pieces! A few of my other favorites were this velvet romper, this velvet dress (would be so cute belted with this top underneath) and this festive skirt.
I’m not sure what to expect at tonight’s party, but I can’t wait! I know some people hate office parties, but I always love going to Rob’s work parties! Since my “office” is just Oliver and I, we don’t have a company holiday party. But, maybe we should?!
Tomorrow we have yet another holiday party with friends! Tis the season, right?!
What holiday parties are on your calendar? Do you like getting dressed up for the holidays?
Thanks to LOFT for sponsoring this post!
BTW, two ways to wear a cable knit sweater, and really special gift ideas.
