One trend I’ve been really loving lately is the monochromatic outfit. I’ve seen a few all red outfits, like this one, all white like this, and all pink, like this. How chic do they all look? The only negative for me is that a lot of times the whole monochromatic thing can look a little too dressed up for everyday wear.

This simple outfit that I wore for lunch one weekend was inspired by the monochromatic trend, but edited to fit our lifestyle—casual. As I’m sure you can imagine, getting dressed up for fancy events isn’t really in the cards for me right now! For the most part, I dress casually everyday, so this look works better for me than the full on monochromatic look.

I love how the matching sweater & coat give it an elevated and sophisticated touch, but the loose, raw hem jeans make it perfect for everyday. And for a little fun, I added pop of color with these mini heels (currently on sale!) because, well I love color!

If you need a little outfit inspo this week, try this look! Start by taking a peek at your coat closet. Then dig in your closet or drawers and find some tops to match! This monochromatic look will work with any color, and neutrals are an easy place to start. Think navy on navy, grey on grey, cream on cream and of course black on black. The two colors don’t have to be perfect matches either. Pairing two slightly different hues of the same color will provide a little contrast and I actually think I might like this even better. If you have a bold-colored coat, try that too! There’s nothing better than a bold pop of color to brighten a cold winter day!

What do you think of the monochromatic trend? Would you try it or stick to my half-chromatic version?
