Dream Day

coffee, booties

If you get my emails, you got a little glimpse into my personal love life, but today I’m talking about love in a different way. Love and happiness for me really seem to go hand in hand. If you love something or someone, it (or him or her) typically tends to make you happy. So I’m outlining a dream day of things I love and that make me happy in honor of love’s big day tomorrow. It’s not an extravagant day, but sometimes it’s just the littlest things that make a day perfect, you know? So here we go…

I wake up and it’s summer (hooray! no more cold) Take Oliver for a lakeside walk, come home, spend a little quiet time reading my Bible and devotional book. Then it’s time for breakfast. I put on this dress and these bright sandals and head out to meet my sisters for brunch. No they don’t live here, but it’s a dream, remember?! Oliver comes too and we enjoy a slow morning at a sidewalk cafe.

After brunch, I head back, throw on some grubbies, put on this album and spend a few hours painting. I step back to let what I’ve done settle — it helps me to do this when I paint. Enjoy a cup of tea, some lunch and maybe paint a little more. Or maybe go to a market and do some browsing. I could really use some dining room chairs or a new box for storing trinkets.

It’s time for patio round two. I ditch the painting grubbies for this lacey-backed shirt, these (amazing) denim shorts and d’orsay flats and head somewhere with a patio and a good beer menu. Rob, Oliver and friends come too and we spend the afternoon drinking and enjoying each other’s company.

To end our day, Rob and I head out for a relaxed dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and talk about one of our favorite things — travel.

You might be laughing and also notice that work is not mentioned in here and I do love my job, but at the end of the day, it’s still a job and I love it differently than I love beer-drinking on patios — so, my perfect day doesn’t include work! That was a fun game and a nice mental escape for me this morning, haha! What does your dream (love) day look like?
