Last week I took a mother-daughter trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico with my sweet mama. I’m so thankful that she loves the beach as much as me and that we both have super flexible schedules that allowed us to pick up and go at the last minute. I booked the trip just a month before we left and it was worth every penny!

For the most part we spent almost all of our time at the beach. I didn’t even feel guilty about not going into town and exploring, ha! The goal for the trip was to relax and I think we did a pretty good job of that!

Our hotel wasn’t fancy, but that didn’t stop me from getting dressed up for dinner each night. I definitely got some confused looks, but I had recently purchased this yellow lace dress and this striped shift dress and I was dying to finally wear them! But the outfit that I was most excited to wear while we were there was this one and unfortunately it just sold out! There’s more boho-inspired dresses here and the patterned version of my dress here.

I fell in love with this blue peasant dress after I spotted it on ShopBop a few weeks ago (p.s. see my under $100 ShopBop sale picks!). You know when you see something online and you find yourself coming back to the site over and over again? That’s what was happening to me with this dress. I’m so glad I finally bought it because it’s one of those pieces that I feel amazing in every time I put it on. I actually wore it around my house the other day even though it was freezing outside — no joke, I’m that in love!

I was also so excited to wear these Loeffler Randall Luz sandals for more than just a few minutes since it’s still too cold in Chicago. Other than the adorable tassels, I love that these lace up and actually stay on my feet, which makes it easier to walk, ha! Is that weird?

Speaking of these shoes, Loeffler Randall has quickly become one of my favorite brands! I love how they use pattern, texture and unique styling to create pieces that you’ll love for a long time.

I’m extra excited because Loeffler Randall is generously giving The Fox & She readers 20% off select styles now through March 8th — you can view styles here and then use code: LRFOX20 at checkout to redeem your 20% off! I just got this adorable pair of Piper wedges and a few of my other favorites include these scalloped strappy heels (especially love the blue), these lace-up sandals, these two strap beach slides, these sneakers and this adorable beach bag!

The night I wore this outfit in Mexico, we ate in the Mayan-themed restaurant at the hotel. Like I said, we didn’t even leave the grounds, whoops! We started with a super yummy chicken and vegetable soup and had pulled pork with tortillas for dinner, which easily made this our favorite dinner. We ended up sitting in this restaurant all night long, drinking way too much wine and chatting and laughing hysterically — my mom can be a real hoot (her word).

After dinner we decided we’d go to the bar for one last drink. A few minutes after we got there the whole area turned into a discoteca complete with laser lights, thumping music and Latin men dancing provocatively in pants that were a little too tight. It was definitely the most entertaining and memorable night of our trip!
