Gold Sneakers & Lunch at Dox

@anthropologie outfit

The week that Rob and I got home from our trip was sooo gloomy. Like grey skies, bitter cold temperature and spitting rain gloomy. I can handle a few like this, in fact, I kinda love a gloomy day every once and a while, but a week straight?! Come on Chicago, I’m going to get depressed if you keep this up!

A few weeks ago, I escaped my place to meet up with Shaheen for a work day at her house. Getting out of the house and being with friends or simply around other people is so refreshing when the weather gets crappy. Also, I always love coming to her house, it’s always a million times cleaner than mine—come help me clean, okay Shaheen?!

It’d been two weeks since I’d seen her, so we caught up on life and I got to see all the new goodies they got for the baby room! I’m so excited for them!

We sat down to get some work done and instead I found myself browsing spring clothes. Just another way to escape the gloom, right?! Yes, spring and summer are a long way off here, but I have my eye on this gorgeous boho dress, this off-the-shoulder gingham shirt, and this girly little red wrap dress. As much as I love a good cozy sweater, I’m a summer girl at heart and will always love dresses more than jeans and sweaters. I’ve also been loving statement earrings—the ones I’m wearing are actually super lightweight. Do you have spring pieces you’re already looking to buy too?!

Statement Earrings

We went to a new spot in Wicker Park for lunch called Dox, it’s a Greek restaurant and was super yummy! I had the pork shoulder pita, which was delicious, and we split the avocado hummus and zucchini chips—definitely get the hummus! The best part was that it was pretty healthy too—win win!

It wasn’t the warmest day, but like I said, I’m over winter, so I wore something a little bit brighter that made me feel less gloomy than it looked that day. These chinos are from Anthropologie and are super comfortable. I have a pair that I’ve worn here and here and I absolutely love them! Heads up though, they do run a wee bit big and next time I’d order a size down.

This silk top is actually really long, but I love how it looks knotted. It comes in a few more colors too and I’m debating the plum color. I threw on these statement earrings and this clutch for a little extra pattern and color to my otherwise simple outfit. Lastly, let’s talk about these sneakers.

When we were in Europe, I couldn’t stop staring at every girl’s sneakers. Seriously, everyone was wearing them! I snagged this pair that runs true to size and have been wearing them constantly. They’re sorta of a brassy gold color and go with every thing from jeans to skirts to dresses. I’m planning on wearing it with this maxi dress from this post with a ponytail for a semi-casual look. I rounded up a few more awesome pairs below!

Sneaker Obsessed

Since I was getting so much use out of these stylish sneakers, I went ahead and bought these too, oops! Yes, it was a little bit impulsive, but they’re so good! I won’t get them until late February, so let’s hope they’re worth the wait.

Do you have a pair of stylish sneakers? What do you like to wear them with?

BTW, what we wore in Porto, and a quick trip to Denver.
