Week 1: 30 Days of Real Outfits

A few years ago, I did something I called “30 Days of Real Outfits” on Instagram. And, for 30 days, I posted a picture of what I was actually wearing that day. It’s still been one of my favorite blogging memories. So many pictures on blogs and Insta are styled and staged, and that’s fine, but if I’m being honest, those pictures just don’t happen as often these days.

I love doing this because a) it challenges me to get creative with my own wardrobe, and 2) makes me get dressed! I can’t tell you how many days I live in leggings and a workout top, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, I love getting dressed. It boosts my confidence and mindset and always makes me more productive. It’s weird, but it works.

So, for the next 30 days, I’m aiming to do it again. I’m already 6-7 days in now, pretty sure I already missed a day—mom life—but either way, should be fun. We do have some trips this month, so I’m hoping I can still remember to snap a picture while we’re out and about, even if it’s just me in my biking boots and biker shorts.

Here’s the week one recap:

Real Outfit Ideas for Summer

Day 1: Ruffled Top for a BBQ

Melia Top, runs small, I went a size up | Mom Jeans, runs TTS | Mules, TTS—worth the splurge | Wildwood Suede Belt, had this one forever and I get so much use from it!

I absolutely adore this top! I bought it as a birthday present for myself in May and have only worn it a handful of times, but every time I put it on, I feel great. There’s something about investing in those pieces that make you feel like a goddess! Anyway, I wore this outfit to our friends’ BBQ last Saturday. We’d had a few days of cooler weather and this was perfect!

Day 2: Active Sunday

High-Neck Crop, comes in a set of 3 | High-Waist Yoga Pants | Tree Runners | “Mama” Sweatshirt

Rob was gone this weekend so I had the boys all to myself. We had such a busy Saturday and Sunday was a bit slower, but still active. We got out for a picnic at our favorite spot, then walked down the parkway, or as Owen calls it, “the tree houses” because it’s lined with massive trees you can walk under and they feel like houses.

I’ve raved about these crop tops before, and I will continue because they are that good! Perfect with high-waisted leggings, biker shorts and even skirts.

Day 3: Tank Dress

Long Weekend Tank Dress | Sneakers | Belt

One of my favorite dresses! I’ve had this for a couple of years and even wore it while pregnant. It looks really cute belted over a bump. It’s comfy, but still makes me feel pulled together.

Day 4: Boho Maxi

Boho Maxi Dress, wearing a M | Sandals

I spent this day running around the house packing and finishing up random things before we left town for Aspen. We’ll be there for the long weekend with my family and I am SO excited! This dress is so comfortable, I’m wearing a medium, and also looks really cute belted with heels for a dressier way to style it.

Day 5: Roadtrip

Bodysuit | Jeans, similar | Sneakers | Cardigan, similar | Sunglasses

My travel outfit for our road trip to Snowmass. Thankfully it went smoothly! No crazy traffic, no barf, no accidents—a mom’s real dream.

Day 6: Bike Ride

Long Sports Bra | Leggings | Sneakers

Our first full day in Aspen, we went on a bike ride from Snowmass to Basalt. It’s one of my favorite things to do while we’re there. We pulled Owen in the trailer and he did great, though did have a mild meltdown about 3 miles from the finish line.

I missed a few days over the weekend, but oh well, life is good and full and it’s good to set your phone down for a while, right?!
