Beautycounter Charcoal Mask Review
Today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite clean face masks that has done wonders for my skin! This was one of the first products I tried from Beautycounter over three years ago, and one that I find myself regularly using and buying all these years later.
What I love about Beautycounter is that their products are all free and clear of 1,800 potentially harmful ingredients and are rigorously screened for safety.

None of this is required by the FDA, but it makes me feel good to use products from a company that goes out of their way, and puts profits to the side to make sure they’re providing something that won’t harm my health.
Beautycounter Charcoal Mask
What Is It?
The Beautycounter Charcoal Mask is an activated charcoal face mask that does an amazing job of clearing congestion, breakouts and keeping your skin looking clear and glowing. Just about anyone can use this, but it’s especially great for anyone who has oily skin or deals with breakouts and congestion.
The ingredients in here are designed to help clear your pores and leave your skin feeling amazing, and it does just that!
Beautycounter Charcoal Mask Key Ingredients
Kaolin Clay
Kaolin clay is helps remove excess oil and sebum from your skin without drying it out too much. This is so important because you don’t want to strip your skin of its natural oils.
Activated Charcoal Powder
Activated charcoal is one of the BEST ingredients for anyone who is concerned with congestion, oiliness or breakouts. Charcoal powder helps to clear skin by drawing out impurities, oil, dirt, and gunk from pores. Exactly why it’s such a rockstar ingredient for clearing skin.
Lactic & Salicylic Acids
These gentle acids are so beneficial for your skin. They can help resurface the skin, smooth the texture and give your skin a more radiant look.
Green Tea
Lastly, green tea is another great ingredient here. Green tea is full of antioxidants and is a great ingredient for anti-aging.
How To Use The Beautycounter Charcoal Mask
Before using any mask, make sure to clean your skin really well. I always remove my makeup first with this cleansing balm and then deep clean my skin with a cleanser. Lately, I’ve been using this oil cleanser which also does a great job of getting deep into your pores.
Next, apply a thin layer of the charcoal mask with clean fingers. Let it dry for 10 minutes before rinsing. You can literally see it working while it’s on. It starts dark and as it dries, it turns lighter grey. You can see where it’s pulling out excess oil from your skin too. Gross, but satisfying too!

I try to use this mask 2-3x a week, and I have slightly oily skin. If you have drier skin, once a week might be plenty. If you’re finding that your skin feels tight and dry after, make sure to moisture really well when you’re done. I love this night cream, and if my skin needs a little extra hydration, I’ll press in a couple drops of this brightening face oil too.
Lastly, you can also use this as a spot treatment on any blemishes that pop up. Just dab a little on the zit and leave it on for 30 minutes, or overnight.
