Walking into our house this past week makes me SO happy!
I mean, it normally makes me happy, but I’m talking visible smile on my face and overall joy. Why? Because it feel so cheery and festive and I absolutely love it! Christmas is one of my favorite times of year and is even more special this year since Owen is a whole year old. It’s been so cute to watch him poke the branches on the Christmas tree and inspect (sometimes tugs on) the stockings. I always thought Christmas was most magical when I was a kid, and it feels extra magical all over again.
In the past, I would always decorate our tree and maybe but a wreath up, but that was as far as I’d go. But, this year, I went all out—well, at least for me. We spend so much time at home now, and I want Owen growing up with fun and festive traditions around the holidays!
This year, you get the Christmasy vibes as soon as you walk in the door! Mostly because our Christmas tree is right there, ha, but also because it smells amazing! I know real trees make a mess, but I could care less. The smell of fresh pine needles is too good to pass up. Plus, I have this Dyson v10 vacuum which makes vacuuming way too easy, so the needles are no problem-o!
I’ve also got our stockings (we got ours from Pottery Barn & Crate & Barrel, but they’re old) hung on the mantel (still waiting for one last garland), and I just hung our wreath up as well! We’ve got some fun Christmas-y pillows and this candle that I burn on the regular this time of year.
Then there’s our bedroom. I never used to decorate our bedroom, but again, I went all out this year and I love how simply adding a cute (fake) garland on our bed and swapping out the pillow has turned into such a festive space. I also have a little votive in this scent (another holiday favorite) by our bed which I need to light! My mom always sends us one for Christmas!
Now that we’re fully into December and our house is looking festive and merry, I’m ready to dive into some Christmas movies this weekend! We have two Christmas parties tonight, which means tomorrow night will be a movie night in, probably with a big pot of this butternut squash soup—one of my favorites this time of year.
I asked you guys to send in your favorite Christmas movie recs and here’s the top 10 Christmas movies you guys sent! Thanks so much for sharing, there were some in there that I’d forgotten about and can’t wait to watch again!
