This past weekend, Rob and I went on our very first real date night since Owen was born. My parents were in town and happily volunteered to watch their grandson while we went out to a concert. We saw the Tedeschi Trucks Band at Chicago Theatre, and if you haven’t listened to their music, you should, it’s really awesome. I was pretty tired from our week, but managed to stay fully awake the whole night, though when we got home, I crashed hard!
I’d been so long since I’d been out, I had trouble deciding what to wear. Whenever I’m in doubt, I always reach for a white shirt and jeans. It’s such a classic combination and can be easily dressed up. The key to making it a little fancier is a non-boring white shirt. Something I own quite a few of! I love white because it’s fresh, simple and always looks nice, but having some options with fun details like this neckline, sleeves, ruffles and eyelet make the outfit look more dressed up. I paired with these mom jeans, which I’ve been wearing a whole lot lately (in this post and this post too), simple heels and my beloved teddy coat. To add a pop of color, I carried this green bag too. It’s velvet and is just so pretty!
Non-Boring White Shirts
After our night out, I was pretty tired, and the rest of our weekend was pretty relaxed. We spent most of Sunday morning hanging out in our pajamas, drinking coffee and catching up with my parents. For lunch, we walked over to Southport and ate at Corridor with my parents before making a grocery run and coming home for the rest of the day. We cooked dinner at home, gave Owen a bath, relaxed and went to bed early—not a bad way to spend a Sunday in my opinion!
How was your weekend? Do you love white shirts as much as I do?
