Last year I ordered a new desk for my office and somehow managed to have it shipped to my old place. When my landlord called to tell me it was there I was obviously confused, but also at a loss for how to get it back to my house. It should be as easy as throwing it in the trunk of my car, but guess what? I don’t have one. Rob and I both sold ours cars when we moved to the city because we rarely need one.

So there I was, stuck, with no car and no way to get my precious desk home.

Thankfully I recently learned about a company called Schlep and now I know I’ll never be stuck in this position again. They specialize in delivering large items locally in Chicago and Milwaukee and make the process incredibly easy, smooth and enjoyable. Yes, you read that right, moving furniture can actually be enjoyable.

I was thrilled to get to try them out last week when I had a new highboy dresser delivered from MegMade! I easily requested my Schlep online and selected selected my item, and then selected a pick up date, time and location as well as the drop off location. The online form also asks you how you take your coffee which was totally unexpected and unique!

The day before my Schlep, I received and email that told me who my Schleppers would be the following day. I loved that because I knew what they looked like and their names which made the process less stressful. They called me after they had picked up my item and again when they were about 5 minutes away so I could alert the front desk. As soon as I went down to meet them, they greeted me with a fresh, hot coffee with cream and sugar — just the way I like it — and got started on the move.

My Schleppers, Stacy & Josue, were so friendly and incredibly professional. They had my piece in my room in no time and even took the time to make adjustments to the location of the piece. I really appreciated this because I can be a bit knit-picky about things like this and wanted to make sure it was perfectly centered.

Before I knew it, it was done and looked amazing. If you’re anything like me, moving can be stressful, even when it’s just one piece. I have this weird thought that I need to be helping out or something, but the coffee gave me something to hold and allowed me to just chill out and relax.

Overall I could not recommend Schlep more! They’re currently only in Chicago and Milwaukee, but the next time you find yourself in a bind and need to move something, you should most definitely use them! Not only are they totally professional, but they were also just cool, like you asked your good friends or close neighbor to help you move. The personal touches like this and the coffee made this experience stand out and has sold me — any future schlepping needs will be handled by none other than Schlep!

Have you ever found yourself in a bind like me? Does moving cause you stress too? If you’re in the Chicago or Milwaukee area I sincerely hope you try them out next time you need to move a random item!
