Three Day Weekend
Welcome back! How was everyone’s long weekend? Ours was pretty perfect!
Friday night we laid low. And I mean, real low. It was Rob’s last day at his old job and we were both wiped out, so we ordered take out and watched movies and went to bed early. Sometimes it makes me feel old when we don’t do anything on Friday night, but if I’m being honest, I totally love lazy nights at home! Sorry I’m not sorry.
On Saturday, we had plans with our friends Corey & Megan who we went to Sonoma with earlier this year. We met up with them and spent the entire, beautiful afternoon at the Soho rooftop by the pool. I wore this swimsuit and this coverup to kick off the holiday weekend.
It was such a gorgeous day and lots of rays were caught and plenty of rosé was consumed. We left to meet some more friends for dinner at Parson’s Chicken & Fish. If you haven’t been to this spot yet, it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite places. The outdoor patio style set up is ideal for Chicago’s mild summers and their frozen cocktails are totally delicious!
Sunday we had invited a bunch of our friends over for a rooftop grill out in honor of the 4th of July. We planned it perfectly because the actual 4th of July was cool and cloudy, but Sunday was perfect. I wore this adorable lace dress and a navy bandana. Red would have been better, but we didn’t have one.
It was warm and sunny, but not too hot. We spent the afternoon sitting in the grass, playing SpikeBall and enjoying the amazing day and view.
We grilled fresh corn and chicken sandwiches with Cajun seasoning — both easy and so delicious! It was one of those perfect summer days that you wished wouldn’t end, but alas, it had to.
Our actual 4th of July was a lot more tame. We slept late and made breakfast at home. I put on a face mask days and played catch up on work because I’m leaving town on Thursday for my sister-in-law’s bachelorette party!
We’re going to Steamboat and I’m so looking forward to a weekend of hiking and getting to meet her friends that I haven’t had the chance to meet yet. I’ll be packing this outfit above for dinner and drinks one night. I’m obsessed with the length and feel of this stripe pleated skirt. It’s super soft and I’m in love with the colors of the stripes! You can wear it casually with a simple tank (love this one too) or it can be dressed up with a pair of heels for a night out.
This week will be a very short one for me, but a busy one nonetheless!
How was your holiday weekend? Do you have any travel plans this month?
BTW, how to make a plain outfit surprisingly interesting, and a recipe for a yummy peach & blackberry galette.
