Activewear Try-On & Review
Over the years I’ve collected a fair amount of activewear—some good, some not so good, so I thought it’d be fun to share some of my favorite brands and my honest reviews! Up until a few years ago, I just wore old shorts and t-shirts from college for my workout stuff. They were usually oversized, baggy and not flattering at all.
Technically, no, it doesn’t matter, but for me, when I look good while I’m working out, I feel so much better and definitely push myself harder. That’s why I love crop tops—if I can see my abs, I’m going to work them harder! I’m not a super competitive person, but I can definitely be competitive with myself!
Let’s get started! And share your favorite brands too, I’m always looking to try new ones!
Outdoor Voices is easily one of my all-time favorite brands for activewear. I love the way the fit, I love the colors, their leggings, and all the cool crop tops they have. I also really really love their marketing. Follow them on Instagram and you’ll see what I mean. It’s all about getting out and doing stuff, no matter what your shape or size is and I’m 100% down with that message.
I haven’t tried their running shorts yet (it’s suppose to be -13 degrees here tomorrow), but I’ve heard great things, so I’m going to snag a pair when the weather finally warms up!
They have a pretty cool special that I think is almost always running. It’s an OV Kit, which includes a pair of leggings and a top for $95. I used to have to hard time spending money on activewear, but I’ve learned that you really do pay for quality and it’s worth it in my opinion.
As for sizing, I can fit into the XS and S and have sets in both. The XS just fits a bit snugger and I’m pretty flat, so the XS is better for that!
I won’t lie, I didn’t have the highest expectations of Fabletics, but I’ve been very pleasantly surprised. They’re steeply discounted and almost have some sort of special going on which made me think twice about the quality, but I actually love them! The leggings I got (this pair and this pair) are a good thickness, stretchy and breathable. I wore the green ones to Pure Barre this weekend and loved how they felt during my workout. I also wore this pullover which I love, but ended up getting pretty warm in class, whoops!
Just a heads up, it is set up to be a membership type program so if you sign up for that, you’ll get something every month. If you don’t want to get charged for that, make sure you’re not checking any boxes that will auto ship! They run TTS—I got XS for leggings and smalls for the tops!
The prices are great if you’re a VIP member! The retail price, well the price goes WAY up. Not sure how that works out, but if you’re going to order from Fabletics, definitely go the VIP route and double check on the subscription aspect if you don’t want that.
Space Dye High-Waisted Leggings | Outdoor Voices Sports Bra
I’ve only had two pairs of Beyond Yoga leggings in my life, but if you love high-waisted leggings, these are the best. They’re insanely comfortable, hug you in all the right places and are high-waisted! I have been wearing this pair on repeat for my weekly trainer sessions and just around the house because they’re so soft! I’m wearing a small and they fit like a dream!
Muscle Tank | Space Dye High-Waisted Leggings
I recently ordered a few pieces of Koral Activewear. It’s a really chic activewear brand, and the prices reflect that. But again, I think it’s better to invest in a few pieces you really love rather than buying a bunch of stuff you kinda like. I absolutely LOVE this tank! I got so many compliments on it at the gym and so many questions about it from you guys on Instagram! It also comes in black. I’m wearing an XS here and online it looks really cropped, but it doesn’t in person! I have a long torso too for reference.
Some of my all-time favorite tanks are from Spiritual Gangster. They’re great for yoga, barre and my strength training workouts. I also love that so many of them have fun positive messages on them. Sadly, my exact shirt is sold out 🙁 but they’re always new cute ones! They don’t last long though, so if you find one you love, get it!
They have tons of comfy athleisure too! I love this sweatshirt and it would be so perfect for hanging out in on the weekend. Even when it gets warmer, it would look cute with denim shorts and sneakers.
I did a fun partnership with Reebok at the end of last year and fell in love with every piece I got! Reebok has great prices and a great selection. The prices are great too, the majority of the leggings are $35-55 which is significantly more affordable than a lot of other brands.
This crop top that I got is still one of my favorites. I love the length of it. It is partially sheer, so you’ll need a sports bra underneath, but it’s so good!
Runderful Long Sleeve Shirt
Lastly, Lululemon! Who doesn’t love Lulu?! Surprisingly, I don’t own much from them. I have this long sleeve top that I got for Christmas and totally love and this tank from this post. I also love their running shorts, even though I don’t run! I’ve heard amazing things about the Align leggings, but haven’t tried them for myself.
Okay, that pretty much is every brand that I have in my workout drawers! I’d love to hear your favorites, so share below!
