Girls’ Trip to California
If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that last weekend I was in LA with my friend Shaheen. We booked the trip a little over a month ago when it was freezing in Chicago and it was so nice to finally escape the cold and rainy weather we’ve been getting.
Ironically it rained in LA on our first day, but after that it was sunny and beautiful! We flew in super early that morning — our flight was at 5:50am, but the upside was that we had a full day once we got there. After checking into our AirBnB, we drove to Venice for brunch at The Butcher’s Daughter.
I finally got the chance to wear this turquoise drop waist dress from the new Cupcakes & Cashmere collection. It fits so well and is so easy and comfortable, I know I’ll be wearing this one a lot this spring and summer. I’m also in love with the color! It’s so bright and summery. The whole Cupcakes & Cashmere collection is super cute and really affordable. A few of my other favorites are this white lace dress, this split striped tee and this adorable striped shift dress!
I spotted this adorable restaurant on someone’s Instagram, can’t remember who, a few months ago and made sure that we went. The interior is absolutely stunning and I was about ready to move in after just a few minutes of being inside. The avocado toast with a fried egg was really delicious and their juices were amazing! I had the watermelon one — yum.
After we ate, we walked up and down Abbott Kinney popping into all the cute shops. One of my favorite stores, Cuyana, had their storefront here and I left wanting this cross body bag, this Turkish robe (I seriously think I’m ordering it) and this makeup bag (the lavender was beautiful!).
We stopped for coffee at Blue Bottle for a much needed afternoon cappuccino. Shortly after it got really cloudy and then started pouring down so we went back to our spot in downtown to lay down for a bit before dinner.
The sun eventually came out and we drank process and sat in the cool hanging rattan chairs in our living room. I definitely need one of these in my office some day. They’re shockingly comfortable! Since we were tired we didn’t venture too far for dinner and went to Bäco Mercat that was just a few blocks away. It was absolutely delicious! If you’re ever in downtown Los Angeles, it’s definitely worth it.
Our 4am wake up call was taking it’s toll and we didn’t last much longer after that. I think we went to bed at 9pm LA time, ha! Overall it was a good day other than the traffic we had coming back from Venice.
Speaking of travel, I left last night for Iceland! It’s a spot that’s been on my travel wish list for a long time! Make sure you’re following me on Snapchat (thefoxandshe) and Instagram to see what’s happening on the trip. What cities or countries are on your travel wish list right now?
